Petunia Dursley was confused. During her childhood her sister had been the golden child, her parents had been so proud of their Lily, and Petunia hated it.
The reason she was confused was that even though Lily had caused her to be constantly aware of how she was second best, she was still concerned about Lily's son, Harry. All those years ago when she had found Harry on her doorstep as a tiny baby a realisation had kicked in, that she did in fact miss her sister, and now she wanted to look after Lily's son. All things considered, petunia knew that if the roles had been reversed Lily would have jumped to look after Petunia's baby, brought it up as her own. Petunia wouldn't go that far, but giving him a bed and food would at least show Lily that she cared.
She never let herself get too close to her nephew, it was easier that way, she wouldn't have to bring up any bad memories, pretend that her and Lily we best friends. Only at the latest hours of the night would she allow herself to feel guilty about the way they treated Harry, when Vernon was snoring soundly beside her, but even then it would only be for a few minutes. She would always remind her of how unfairly she was treated as a child, that sometimes made her feel better.
But now though, she did feel a little worried about where Harry was off to, she supposed he would be safe with his friends, that strange ginger family would look after them. Anyway, she forced herself to sit up straighter, she had to think of diddy, and his safety. He was much more important that that wizard boy.
Petunia unzipped her bag and pulled out a tin of travel sweets. She unscrewed the lid and passed it in front of the strange wizard man, over to Dudley. He had been strangely quiet on this journey to god knows where. He took four and gently popped them in to his mouth. She started to pull it away, but before she could the large man sitting in between them stuck his hand into the tin
"Don't mind if I do" he smiled at her "thank you." She smiled feebly up at him.
"You're welcome" she mumbled. She hoped this journey was nearly over. It was rather awkward, her and Dudder's stuck in the back with a man in a pointy hat, and in the front a woman was harassing Vernon about the buttons on the dashboard.
She had a feeling that the next few weeks were going to most uncomfortable.
Please tell me what you think, should I go on with the story? Thank you for taking the time to read it .. J x
