AN: Okay so I got this idea a while ago and have just been playing with it for a little while. Enjoy.
Ten of the other tributes had died before I saw what the capital was doing I had thrown a knife at the tribute from district 3 and it embedded itself in her chest, the cannon went off and I knew she was dead.
I was watching when they collected the body. At least that's what I thought what they were doing. Instead of pulling it up the injected her with something. She got back up and headed towards me, as if she could smell me. She was moaning and her mouth went slack. She was sort of shuffling. Her jaw kept snapping occasionally. She continued after me even when I started running away.
I climbed a tree when I saw another dead tribute walking aroud. This one was the male tribute from district 6, he had died during the blood bath and since it was day 14 I could see the beginning stages decomposition dripping off of him. I was unfortunately down wind of him and he smelled worse that he looked.
I managed to fall asleep after awhile, it had been hard the constant moaning, the sound of snapping jaws, and,oh god, the smell.
When I woke up I heard another tribute coming this way I figured this one was alive based on the constant sound of smashing leaves. The two no longer dead tributes must have as well. They turned towards him, he was from district 1, meaning the rest of the careers couldn't bee too far off. He must be scouting out the place first. They headed to him, I saw a smile on his face, he must have thought he could take a couple of tributes on his own. He was a fool, he didn't even pay attention to the warning signs.
They launched themselves at him. One of them bit him in the shoulder and his screams of pain attracted the rest of the careers. They came running from the same direction the boy from 1 came.
The careers were attacking the dead tributes but no matter how hard they hit it in the crest it didn't die again. The girl from 2 speared one to the head and it stopped attacking. The others got the other one with a hit to the brain.
The boy from one was bleeding so badly they knew he was practically dead, so they stabbed him to the heart and were about to leave when he started moaning and got back up after the cannon shot. They freaked and got a head shot in but it wouldn't erase what happened next.
I had seen the dead rise already but I hadn't known that he would rise after getting bitten. I shrieked. They heard me, I knew I was dead. The girl from 4 told the others she'd deal with me and they started to walk forwards to check that it was clear.
She asked me to come down. I didn't want a prolonged death, so I did as she told. I asked her to be sure they didn't bring me back. She said she didn't want to kill me. She told me that she had liked me from the first time she laid eyes on me. I mentioned that I felt the same. She gave me a kiss and asked if I'd kill her if she killed me. I agreed, She stabbed me in the stomach, I cut off her head and rammed a throwing knife into my eye so they couldn't bring me back and I died in her arms.
AN: Hope you liked it. I had to include some romance. I felt like it was needed after a gory death. So I think that if the capital could create muttations, then why couldn't they make zombies?
