John Watson was the only person Sherlock ever loved.
"Sherlock! Run!"
He had others he cared for, but no other he loved. Mrs. Hudson, Mycroft, even Lestrade. Moriarty, almost. But still, only John could claim that title.
There was no word for the emotion. The English language was so limited. Most human tongues were. It wasn't friends. It wasn't brothers. It wasn't lovers. It wasn't anything there was a word for.
Love was the closest.
"You know him better than I do."
"I've known him for five years, and, no I don't."
Sherlock didn't understand it. And he figured, he never would. Emotions never seemed important, other than for motive. And manipulation. His own were never an issue. Now that they were, well. It was easier to treat them like any other piece of insignificant information.
"That was, amazing."
"That's not what people normally say."
But the fact was they would not dissipate. If anything the little buggers were growing. Stronger. And they could be dangerous. It was better when there was nothing to be used against the world's only consulting detective.
Because John was the only man Sherlock would let to die. For anyone else, it was simple mathematical calculation. Most efficient way to save as many "innocent" lives as possible.
Play the game.
Watson, though, the only one who had ever been his partner, was different. Sherlock would do whatever it would take to save him. Yet, he would let him go. The only one he would let be destroyed. It was completely illogical.
"I'd be lost without my blogger."
It wasn't an enemy. John Watson. He wasn't a criminal or a mastermind.
John was his friend. And nothing hurt more than that.
"Stupid destiny!"
"Who'd want me for a flat-mate?"
Sherlock didn't believe in such things of course, but it seemed to fit so perfectly.
Why could they speak without words? It seemed like a cheat. Sherlock had never experienced it before. He hated it. Yet it wasn't a bad feeling.
"Where are you going?"
"Damn emotions!"
They were just so pointless and stupid; irritating and counter-productive.
"I will burn the heart out of you!"
"I have been reliably informed, that I don't have one."
"But we both know, that's not quite true."
But he wouldn't trade them for anything.
Because John Watson was the only person Sherlock Holmes ever loved. And ever would.
This idea brewing in the back of my head + obbessing over Sherlock + sister obbessing over Sherlock and sending almost a days worth of music videos (some rather angsty!) = this dribble. - Sorry 'bout that. It just kind of spilled out. ^^
Italized quotes - Direct quotes from the show.
Other quotes - Who knows?
And yes, I have only watched Season 1. Result of living in America, not having cable, refusing to watch anywhere but Netflix (quality issue mostly ;P). So that is an influence. And why the quotes are only from Season 1.
This is just suppose to be facts and truth. Of the intricate realtionship that is John Watson and Sherlock Homles. 0.o
I'm not actually fan of the slash paring, though I understand 110%. And can enjoy a good vid/fic/ect. But I just can't really see it developing into more. :?
