Thoughts
I heard Oliza laugh and smiled at the sound. These twenty years of peace had been bliss. The serpiente are allowed to dance and the avian have their own freedom among my people. No more blood has been spilt since I and my Naga, the avain's Tuuli Thea, have taken the throne.
I remember bitterly when one of my own people, Adelina, turned against me. I loved her once, but that love soon turned to the hawk, beautiful Danica Shardae, and to the white viper I still treated as an equal until she had killed my mother and almost executed Danica with the same arrow. Then she felt my hate, my anger that, long ago, I would have expressed to an avian.
Sighing, I turned from the balcony, and from my reverie to meet the molten gold eyes of my mate, who sat on the bed. I plastered on a fake smile when I met her eyes but I know she was concerned.
"What's wrong?" she asked standing and walking over to me, wrapping her arms around my waist and resting her cheek against my chest.
"Nothing, I was just thinking, that's all" I answered. I knew the question she would say next and added: "About the past..." I held Danica close and sighed.
"Oh Zane..." I felt her lips upon my cheek and her breath warm on my face as she placed a soft, brushing kiss on my lips. "The future is not as hard as the past...Oliza will be joining our people and hopefully her reign will finally bring the two together instead of one on each side of the hill."
I only nodded as I stared back out to the setting sun, holding my mate close to my side as we watched Oliza shape shift into the two forms she had been born with.
I believed Danica's word was true, I hoped it would come true. To bind my people and hers to one culture, one clan.
Serpiente. Avian. One court.
One queen. Two thrones. One land.
One cobra. One hawk.
A Wyvern.
