Author's Note: Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss! It's been ages since I've posted, but I'm back! So let's have some fun.

DISCLAIMER: I don't own Horton Hears a Who or any of the characters in this fiction. Mac Whomarco is a parody of real-life Canadian indie-rock singer, Mac DeMarco.

JoJo McDodd, the smallest Who of all, was bored. He pushed through all the students of Whoville High School as they excitedly fled their last classes for the day. After endless homework assignments and tedious tests, the students were more than ready to embrace spring break! Nothing but a full week of burning under the sunshine, fooling around, and music festival-galore was promised for the young citizens of Whoville.

But being the son of Mayor Ned McDodd, JoJo wasn't promised anything but obnoxious mayor-talks, boring town hall meetings, and volunteering in the community. JoJo could already hear the laughter from his classmates. He would have to give a recap in an essay on how he spent the week in his English class. As the who teen slugged to his locker, he found himself even more annoyed.

"Hello, K-WHO! Sorry but you're caller number seven. We're looking for caller number, nine. Please try again."

Francie Furchild was standing against JoJo's locker. She and JoJo were locker neighbors. Francie occupied the bottom locker while JoJo occupied the top half. This was a "mistake" (and huge inconvenience to their height struggles) made by the school secretary.

Francie hung up her who-phone in frustration. Her thumbs immediately began punching in the phone number again impatiently. She wasn't the only one loosing patience.

"Excuse me. You're kind of blocking my locker," JoJo spoke up. Francie lifted her index finger, signaling JoJo to wait a sec.

JoJo rolled his eyes as Francie held her breath, listening for the who-phone to ring.

Ding. Ding. Ding.

"Oh no!" Francie cried. "My who-phone died."

"May I ask?" JoJo said in a less than sympathetic tone.

JoJo could really care less. Francie was often nice to JoJo, but that didn't make them friends in any way. For one, Francie was tallest who-girl in school, and she was very pretty. She was a sophomore and attracted the popular crowd effortlessly with her trend-setting, flipped haircut. She was also on the dance team, and just like everyone else, often overlooked JoJo.

"Quick! JoJo! Do you have a who-phone?" Francie ordered.

"Umm, yeah. I do," JoJo replied.

"Are you okay, Francie? You're acting like a whonatic."

"I've got to be Caller Number Nine! This is my only chance to see my favorite singer!"

JoJo slipped his lightly used who-phone from out of his pockets and punched in his pin code. Francie swiped the who-phone from out of his little hands and started punching in a phone number. JoJo glared as Francie frantically listened to the short rings. She crossed her golden ring baring fingers.

"Hello! K-WHO," an enthusiastic man said.

"H...hello?" Francie answered.

JoJo could practically hear her heart racing.

"You are caller number nine!"

"What!? Oh my Seuss!

Aaauuughhh!" Francie screamed louder than a rink-rinker-fink getting it's tooth yanked out. She leaped from the floor and danced around. JoJo thought it was the worst dance he'd ever seen her do.

"That's what's up! You and three friends are going to Puncker's Pond: Spring Break Jam with Mac Whomarco!"

"Oh my Seuss! I love Mac Whomarco! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!"

JoJo narrowed his eyes in agitation. "This is ridiculous," he thought.

"Wasting my minutes over a Mac Whomarco concert?"

Mac Whomarco was most certainly not a singer one would find in JoJo's playlist. Mac's low voice and mellow sound, wasn't really something orchestral-loving JoJo would ever give a chance. And with his goofy, gap-toothed grin and baggy fur, Mac Whomarco certainly wasn't some who to have a heart attack over either.

The man on the phone, however found Francie's freak out who-larious. "Now let me ask you this, which three friends are coming with you to see Mac?" he asked her.

Francie paused and extended a finger as she began listing off her friends. "My best friend Suzy Zorzy, hands down!" She then used the same finger to tap her chin as she thought.

JoJo groaned in frustration. "You're wasting my minutes," he complained in a whisper.

Francie glanced at JoJo and then smiled. "I'm using my friend, JoJo's who-phone right now. I owe it to him to come too. So I'll take, Suzy, JoJo, and whoever JoJo wants to bring with him."

JoJo's chin dropped as Francie hugged him in gratitude.

'My friend, JoJo?'

"Ah! That's lit, and very generous of you! Congratulations!" the man said and then hung up.

Francie handed JoJo back his who-phone. He looked up at her warily. Was Francie being serious when she said, 'My friend, JoJo?' Or was that all just for show?

"So, you're really going to give me those Mac Whomarco tickets?" JoJo asked.

Francie looked at JoJo like a daisy had just sprout from his thick, black hair. "Well, yeah! Obviously! It's like, only fair since you let me use your who-phone."

"Yeah, but I —" JoJo started to argue.

"Relax, JoJo!" Francie said. "I'm doing you justice. I am a Libra, after all. We're all about being fair. And you claiming those two tickets is only fair."

JoJo blinked in disbelief. Was he really going to argue with a popular who? This could be his chance to finally gain a little respect. Sure he would have to do some research on Mac Whomarco's music in order to make decent conversation with Francie, but he was willing to do so if it meant shedding his image as "The Yopp-Kid."

"Gosh, Francie. This is so nice of you!" JoJo said, smiling.

"Well, that's kind of why everyone loves me." Francie joked. She then crouched down to JoJo's level and looked him in his auburn eyes. "Yopp-Boy, you and your friend are going to this concert and that's final!" Francie ordered playfully.

"Okay! Okay! I'll go!" JoJo gave in.

"Good!" Francie said. "You'd better. Because, I don't like rejection."

JoJo watched as she finally moved away from his locker and own the hallway. A wave of happiness rushed through his tiny body. His whole world lit up! He'd not only just won way far-out, concert tickets, but he'd also just won a new, not to mention, popular friend!
