The young girl's raven hair swayed gently in the breeze emerging from her opened bedroom window. Her pale blue eyes gazed, unfocused into the starry sky. She realized the danger of being caught unprepared, but she was already lost in the midnight lushness surrounding her petite form.

After a few moments had passed, the girl sighed heavily, her shoulders sagging visibly. She reluctantly reached forward to slide the door to freedom shut. She knew that, that particular freedom would be delayed for an inevitable amount of time. The clicking of the window's close was synchronized with the plummeting of her heart.

The girl felt trapped. She desperately wanted, no, she needed, an escape. That one trip, even if it lasted only a few moments, of bliss. The moment when she could finally relax, and most importantly, escape. Escape from reality, from destiny, from fate. Escape from the life she lived, into the one she desperately sought. Escape from the people around her, from everything she had ever known, into a new life. A new adventure. A new world.

The girl sighed again, pushing herself to her feet. Her body ached with stress and tiredness and the wounds she had recently received. She wanted nothing more than to sleep for a month, hoping to sleep through every bad thing coming her way. She knew though that that exact option was not, in fact, an option at all. She could not let her guard down for something so trifling as sleep.

Her feet dragged as she made her way to the mass of old blankets in the darkest corner of the abandoned room. She shivered underneath her ripped t-shirt. She dropped to the floor and wriggled underneath the blankets, hoping for warmth. She laid her head on the flat pillow and was instantly plunged into a fitful sleep. She doubted she would ever rest easily again.

She shifted her body and her arm rolled to the side, exposing the only precious thing she owned. A simple gold bracelet with one very important word engraved into it. The word which was her namesake and savior. A simple five-lettered word which she loved dearly, but was not sure she could ever trust again.

Faith.

A/N: Ok so I know that was pretty short. Consider it the prologue. I'd be really grateful to get some good reviews and feedback. That pretty purple button is there for a reason you know.
