For my contribution to "First 10 get a drabble" on my Y!gallery account (there are still spots open if you're interested). This one is for Mirlin who asked for Erestor x Glorfindel.
Return
He had returned from death.
The Elf that had slain a Balrog and fell into darkness had returned to Middle-Earth and Erestor knew not whether he should weep tears of joy or grief. Because the return of the former Lord of the House of the Golden Flower brought back both good and bad memories.
Even though memories had been returned to the Elda by the Valar it did not mean they were as clear as day. Memories and thus feelings would surface one after another ensuring it would at least take a year before Glorfindel was graced with all of his memories again.
Erestor, with a sigh passing his thin lips, closed his eyes as he laid down the book he had been attempting to read. He lacked concentration now that Glorfindel had returned and he found a restlessness inside him that would not leave.
The restlessness, he knew, would not leave him until Glorfindel had confronted him about a specific memory, about a past confession Erestor had chosen not to tell the other of.
Because days before the fall of Gondolin, that fateful day that he thought had taken Glorfindel away from him forever, he had confessed his fragile yet honest feelings of love to Glorfindel. He had been gently and thoughtfully rejected and he had entered battle with a broken heart, thanking only his luck that he had survived.
And now the Elf that still held his heart, even after all of those years, had returned thus awakening slumbering feelings of both love and longing in Erestor.
Lost in thought he was shocked and startled when the door was thrown open, an slightly irritated Glorfindel stepping inside his room and slamming the door close with as much force as it was opened.
With widened eyes, Erestor watched the other Elf and knew right away why Glorfindel was here.
"I have felt your eyes burning holes in me ever since I have arrived." The golden-haired Elf stated.
Erestor, needing only a second to think of a reply, quirked his lips in a small smile and replied: "You are quite fetching."
Because until he knew for sure why Glorfindel was here, he was not going to put his heart on the line a second time.
"As are you, and you have only become more beautiful throughout the years." Glorfindel spoke on a soft voice and he sat down next to Erestor on the settee, irritation gone.
The councillor blinked in astonishment and wondered what Glorfindel meant. He took a deep breath and with a heavy heart said: "The memory might not have returned but I was rejected by you."
"I know. And even though I did back then, now my heart calls out to you." Glorfindel spoke softly, affectionately even and he watched Erestor with a tender expression. "Allow me to win your heart, please?" The Elda pleaded and brushed a strand of brown hair behind a delicate ear.
Erestor shivered at the touch and a small smile appeared on his lips, Glorfindel had always been direct. "You needn't win my heart, it's already yours." He said and after a second continued on a more serious note. "Prove to me that your feelings are genuine. That your rejection was a mistake."
Glorfindel let out a laugh and with a dangerous twinkle playing in his eyes leaned forward and brushed his lips against Erestor's, pulling away after a second with a smirk. "I'll convince you I'm genuine, Erestor. Do not worry." He promised and Erestor chuckled, he could not wait.
The End
