Always
"From now on, I'm a one writer girl." Beckett informed Castle. And it was true. She didn't want to be Conrad's muse. She didn't want to be anyone's muse other than Castle's. When he first started shadowing her, she couldn't imagine having him around. Sure, she had a small- okay, not that small- crush on him, and sure, he was her favourite author, but he was so annoying and immature. The only reason she kept him around was because she knew he had a good , she couldn't imagine not having him around. He was her partner, her plucky sidekick. That 'small' crush hadn't gone away; instead, it stayed, and called in reinforcements. He was still her favourite author, that didn't change. What did change was the fact that she liked being his muse. Beckett liked the fact that she was the reason he came into the precinct every day. He seemed happier, more mature now that he shadowed her. True, he still had his annoying, immature moments, but he seemed less like a nine year old, and more like a good partner.
Castle smiled. "Thank you." he said sincerely.
"Always." she smiled back.
Beckett looked into his eyes, his bright baby blues, and smiled again. Sh could see so much compassion, so much love in his eyes. Saying 'always' was their silent agreement, their unspoken pact that they'd always be there for each other, through thick and thin, not matter what.
He smiled back, his gaze intense. Beckett felt awkward under his gaze, so she had to look away. She returned to her seat, knowing that her plucky sidekick was sitting down next to her.
And that was that. No matter how weird, how abnormal their relationship was, they'd always be there for each other. They'd be there to pick the other off the ground when they fell, and they'd dust the other one off and make sure they were okay. They'll always be there for each other, because that's what partners do.
