"Goodbye Peter."
The once young Wendy closed her windows, bidding goodbye to the green-clad boy.
Wendy was now a mother of two children, quite different from when Peter had first met her. She was now much taller, her chest developed, her face matured though she still had that motherly smile of hers, something she had never lost through the years.
Soon, she had to send her children to a safety home as war was approaching. Her husband, a soldier, had advised it even before the announcement of the army, for the two, their children were top priority.
She recently had a dispute with her daughter, Jane about growing up and taking care of her little brother but a certain friend of hers had helped her mend things before she sent her children away, a very special friend, all the way from Neverland.
It had been many years since she had seen Peter, and she was not surprised to see that he had not changed at all. Although Peter was quite bewildered upon seeing Wendy as a grown woman.
"Wendy? You...You've changed.."
"No Peter, I haven't and not ever."
With those words she left him hanging as she tended to her children residing in the other room.
As Peter and Tinker Bell flew away, he couldn't help but think about Wendy's words. She had changed by appearance but she assured him that she was the same Wendy he had met many years before. He found that hard to believe.
He saw Wendy greet her husband Edward at their front gate and he felt a sudden aching in his chest. He could not comprehend it, what was that feeling?
"What do you think, Tink?"
The little fairy flew around Peter and looked down at the scene. She then looked back to the uneasy Peter and sighed. There was no way for Peter to understand.
"It was like the first time I met a girl," he said.
Tink gave Peter a quizzical look and the boy just grinned.
"Remember Molly, Tink? I felt like that when she had gone back with George, I still ponder at what this pain is."
It was rare for Peter to think about something deeply and Tinker Belle was dubious about what to say.
She gestured Peter to come near her, he came closer and she whispered into his ear.
"L-love! What do you mean, Tink!" The young boy was as red as beetroot.
She pointed to Wendy, who was going back into her house.
Peter looked sadly at the scene.
He closed his eyes and looked behind him. Never Land was waiting.
"It's too late now Tink, she even has kids now...I guess Wendy just grew up..."
Tink hugged Peter and he smiled at the gesture.
"Thanks Tink. The boys are waiting for us, we should get going!"
He flew in front of her but she quickly caught up. He gave one last look at Wendy's house.
"Goodbye Wendy," he whispered and he was gone.
