I remember that night like it was yesterday. You met me on the roof by chance. You seemed kind of faint, but when I asked what was wrong you merely smiled and said nothing.
I should have given that a second thought. As one thing led to another and we wound up waltzing in each other's arms, you turned more and more pale.
I should have asked you what was wrong and then taken you inside. But I didn't, and that was the biggest mistake I had ever made.
And now, I realize, as I stand on this rooftop, a knife to my throat, that I could have saved you. But don't worry.
