Willow Bend
Chapter 1
Lareina grinned as her mother came home from working at the Laundry mat. She entered, in her work clothes, her hair still up in a fishnet. Her mouth was in a frown and she held in her hand, a letter, addressed her in golden letters. She looked down at Lareina and hugged her closely. Lareina did not understand, but embraced the hug, as rarely her parents could pay attention to her. As Lareina leaned back, her mother wiped the tears from her eyes. "Tomorrow is your first day of pre-school." The five year old Lareina grinned, "Mommy! Oh so long I have waited!" Lareina's mother smiled, "Oh, mi poca belleza, my little beauty, if only you understood." Lareina's head nodded to one side in confusion, "Mommy, qué debo entender?"('what must I understand?') Lareina's mother shook her head, "You will find out tomorrow." Lareina smiled, but her mother only frowned, and squeezed her closely.
