Something loose in mind and driving me crazy. Warning: It may suck. I'm still getting better. But please read anyway, because it's exactly 1:16 in the morning.

~Talking~

Claire stared out of the opening of the large bluff they had decied to take refuge in. The last wiff of smoke curled around her small body, and she shivered. Oh, how she wished they could keep keep a fire going all night to protect them from the invading frost, but even though not many people wondered onto the cliff above, it would mean the risk of attracting attention. There was no way her new- er- present partner would take that risk, so she continued gazing at the stars outlined above the jagged rocks that stuck out like vicous teeth, earning this place it's name.

"Are you awake?" The Mudkip barely contained herself to not jump at the sound of Grovyle's voice in the dead silence caveren.

"Yes, "she mumbled in a sigh.

He was quiet for a few moments, then said, "What was going through your head back there in the past... or future, or whatever?"

"I was shocked, " she answered honestly, "why?"

"It's just... you usually have the sharpest mind of us all. But when Dusknoir told us everything, you froze. Completely. That's not average for you."

She rolled over in her nest of hey, proping herself up so that she could see her partner. "What are you getting at? It's not average for you to talk like this."

He hesitated, then replied, "Do you hate me?"

Claire blinked in surprise. Whatever she though she would hear from Grovyle, definetly was not this. "Of course not... what makes you ask such a thing?" She stated, shocked. Grovyle never acts like this. And why the unorthodox question?

"Don't get defensive, you were told to hate me," he snapped, sounding like his usual self for a second. But that soon faded away. "This whole time all you wanted was a bit adventure and to know your past. And it's as if you're forced into all this against your will because of your past... and me. And now regardless of what you possibly had planned for the future, you have to risk your life and try to save the world because of something you decided that you can't even remember. You may be different now..." his voiced trailed off.

"I'm doing this because it's right."

"Exactly. Not because you want to, but because if you don't than everyone you love will be subjected to darkness the rest of thier life."

She leaned back and allowed a smile to form at Grovyle's seriousness. "Well, life isn't fair. We knew that, what does it have to do with you?"

He searched her face for a moment before reminding her, "I almost killed you two."

Claire shot a glance toward her other sleeping comrade, Turtwig, still sleeping without a sound. Remembering the day Turtwig and she had tried protecting Alzelf and attempted to prevent Grovyle from stealing another Time Gear, she laughed dryly. "And we were in your way, I understand that you had to do what you did, and I'm not one to bare a grudge."

"So, you're not mad at all?"

"Not even a little bit, " she smiled, "you can trust me, I'll always be there to fight by your side."

Tucked away in his small corner, Turtwig smiled as well.

Yes, I know. It was very short and about nothing. At least it's not in my head still...
