Disclaimer: I don't own Buffy or Angel- all the credit goes to Joss Whedon, and David Greenwalt (Angel). The only thing I claim about any of this is Miranda. She's my own original character- if you want her detailed biography let me know, and I can send it to you.
Setting: Buffy Post Season Seven, Angel Season five. Miranda returns to L.A after a premonition, and runs into Spike. Spike's character is slightly AU, but when I wrote the character of Miranda, I always imagined them understanding one another really well- due to her background.
As always, please let me know what you think!
The End.
They stared at each other for a several seconds before Miranda broke the silence, looking as bewildered as he felt. "They told me that you died when Sunnydale…" her voice trailed off, as she continued to stare at him.
"Fraid they lied pet." His voice was rough as ever as he answered her, and she marveled at how indifferent he seemed about the entire situation.
That was shattered when he swept her off of her feet in a huge hug that surprised the hell out of her. "Spike!" She squealed, laughing as he returned her to the ground.
"Sorry." He smiled at her. "I just had to do that. I've actually kind of missed you Mira."
"That's almost scary." She noted teasingly, as they strolled down the sidewalk in comfortable companionship. "How did you end up in L.A. anyway?" she asked him quietly.
"The amulet thing, that Angel gave Buffy… someone sent it back to Angel, and when he opened it, poof. I popped out of it like a bloody genie out of a lamp."
"Really?" Miranda looked interested. "So you are working with Angel again? At Wolfram and Hart?"
"I don't know if you call it working, but I see him every bleeding day." Spike said bitterly, "I'm not happy about it, but what else can I do?"
Miranda smiled faintly, as they stopped in front of the large building that housed the Wolfram and Hart offices. She hadn't seen Angel since she'd found out that he'd slept with Darla, and conceived Connor with her…She couldn't stomach the thought of competing with the blonde vampire again, for any form of Angel's attention, so she'd slid into the shadows, and disappeared off of his radar.
"Penny for your thoughts Mira." He offered her a somewhat cocky grin, and motioned to the building in front of them. "She's dead you know…for good this time." He paused, looking for the right words, "And he's not that bad, still a bloody poof, but he's not evil like everyone thinks, he's still in it for the right reasons. Connor doesn't even remember who his biological parents are, according to Wes."
"I know." Miranda's voice was quiet. "That's not why I hesitate to do this."
"Why do you?"
"Because something bad is coming Spike, something worse than the first, worse than Glory, worse than Buffy dating the immortal… and it's only beginning here. It'll spread everywhere. It's destined too." With those words, she started towards the building, and disappeared inside- leaving Spike to wonder what exactly her premonition had shown her.
