CHAPTER 1

Tris POV

I wake up to the sound of the alarm clock blaring, and slowly roll over to hit the snooze button, which ultimately leads to the water glass falling over, which means I have to go to school on my first day with a large bruise covering my right cheek. That's pretty much how my life goes everyday. Wake up, be lazy, knock something over, and go on with normal life. But not this year. This year I plan on being a normal teenage girl (who can finally wear makeup, I might add) and live my life like I want to.

I eventually climb out of bed, and start rifling through my drawer for something presentable. I decide on a ruffled white tank, coral shorts, and tan flats. It is August, after all. I walk into my bathroom to examine the damage on my face, but rejoice when I see there was not a clue hinting that a glass had hit me. It was my lucky day! I start to curl my hair into beachy waves. When I finish wrestling with my hair, I take out my new makeup bag and apply light mascara, a touch of concealer, and a dash of lip gloss. I walk into my room and grab my blue over the shoulder book bag and pile my books in.

Right as I'm about to leave my room, I quickly throw on a decorative necklace that matches my shorts. I head down stairs and smell eggs and bacon. "Come eat," my mother calls out, but I quickly reply "No time. Got to get on the bus! Bye!" I grab a granola bar and slide into a seat right next to a girl with blonde hair and blue eyes. "I love your outfit!" I exclaimed, and she smiled and said "Thanks. I got it in Paris," She was wearing a baby blue lace tank, ruffled white shorts, and stark white converse. She introduced herself as Chris, and we had a major time talking about trends, and cute guys. We exchanged schedules and we have the exact same classes! I could tell I was going to like Divergent High School.
