The T-shirt
Summary: Caleb knocks on Hanna's door to see if she's up for some company, and gets a laugh out of her clothing.
Just a random drabble based on a t-shirt I saw in H&M. One-shot.
There was a loud knock on the front door.
"Hanna, can you take it? I just got out of the shower."
Ashley Marin called to her daughter, who seemed to enjoy a private music concert in her room. Why that girl wouldn't listen to music on a normal volume, Ashley would never understand. Hanna kept claiming that it was "supposed" to be listened to that loudly, but Ashley thought the music kind of disappeared in all the noise. Even so, she never asked Hanna to turn it down, unless they had guests. Frankly, Ashley could stand the noise, and she could do without the fight such a suggestion would most likely birth.
Hanna kept the music on as she went downstairs. It wasn't late, around eight in the evening, and Emily had mentioned something about possibly swinging by for a movie. Hanna was dressed casually, having changed out of her much more fashionable clothes as soon as she got home from school that day. For once, she almost felt like a normal teenager. Her problems this dull Thursday had only concerned homework, a very boring essay she had to write to an equally boring teacher, her friend Spencer ranting about early university applications, which in Hanna's opinion was way too early to start worrying about, and the fact that the school cafeteria didn't have any good salad options today. She welcomed those kind of issues, it was nice to feel as though she was nothing but a regular high school student. Aria was freaking out because they hadn't heard from A for a while, and thought the bitch must be planning something extraordinarily horrible, but Hanna thought the change of pace was nice. It wouldn't help to worry anyway. Maybe this would even be the last they heard of the monster. She didn't actually believe that, but she didn't mind pretending.
Hanna opened the door, expecting Emily, but found Caleb out on the doorstep instead. She raised a surprised eyebrow.
"Hi, why are you here? Is everything okay?"
"Sure, everything is fine, I was just checking in to see if you wanted some company tonight?" Hanna and Caleb had been dating for some time now, but they hadn't really spent any time together the past week. She had spotted him earlier today in school, but without doing much more than smiling to him.
"Yeah, come on in. Want to watch a movie? Em might be coming over to do that later, but we could start..." she trailed off, looking expectantly at Caleb, who after coming inside had snorted a little laugh.
"What are you wearing?" he asked, still laughter in his voice.
Hanna looked down. She was wearing sweats, and a grey t-shirt with black letters on the front, shaping the words Boyfriends are overrated. It was one of the most comfortable things she owned, perfect for a lazy evening. She shrugged, but couldn't help the soft blush creeping its way across her cheeks.
"Mona gave it to me about a year ago, as a joke," she said in a somewhat lame tone.
"Huh. I have no idea you thought so little of me," Caleb said, a cheeky twinkle in his eyes. Hanna rolled her eyes, but smiled. Just then, her phone pinged, and she welcomed the excuse to look away from him.
"Come on, you can choose the movie. Emily isn't coming." She started walking towards the kitchen. "Want some ice cream?" Caleb, still grinning, followed her to help take out bowls and spoons.
