Prelude:
This story was created as part of a contest in the LL FB group which I administrate. Had this idea buzzing around in my head for a while anyway so I figured I might as well give it a roll.
There may be a continuation because I kind of actually like this premise. That's if I bother to write one =|
Maki stared at the notebook on her study table.
Upon opening it, she had instantly noticed that the notebook wasn't hers. The handwriting was far too neat to even look remotely like hers.
That wasn't important though. What was important was the content of the notebook.
"As Rin kissed Maki, she said: "Maki-chan, I love you, nya."
Maki reciprocated by engaging the cat-like girl in..."
Maki quickly closed the notebook as her face began to change into a colour much more vibrant than her hair. From the handwriting and content, she deduced the owner of the notebook, and made a mental note to confront said owner the next day.
As Maki walked into the classroom the following day, preparing to confront the owner of the notebook, she found said alleged owner speaking to the other co-star of the notebook's content.
"Ah, um, Rin-chan! Here is... um... your notebook! I took it by mistake yesterday!"
The blush on Hanayo's face was evident as she handed Rin her notebook.
Maki, noticing this strange development, walked up to Hanayo.
"Hanayo..."
Maki called out to her. Hanayo turned around and nearly jumped.
"Ah! Ma-ma-ma-maki-chan!"
Maki stared at Hanayo, raising an eyebrow.
"It's... it's not what... you think...! We... we aren't dating! I... I swear! Somebody, save me!"
Maki crossed her arms, a look of confusion spreading across her face.
"Huh? I just wanted to return you your notebook. But seeing as you seem to have a guilty conscience, I might as well ask you about this."
Maki flipped to the pages about her and Rin.
"What is the meaning of this?"
Hanayo's face paled as she realised that her deepest, darkest secret was out.
"No... not that! Somebody, save me!"
As Hanayo collapsed and began to convulse dramatically on the floor, Rin snickered as she handed Maki a book.
"Maki-chan, here's your notebook! By the way, I like how you managed to portray me and Kayo-chin, nya!"
She gave Maki a thumbs up as Maki's face blanked in an instant.
Hanayo, hearing about this, sprang back to attention as she stared at Maki.
"Maki-chan...? Wait, you wrote about me and Rin-chan?"
"It's, it's not what you think, you idiot!"
"Wait a minute."
Rin stopped the two as she entered a phase of deep thought; a rare sight.
"So... to sum this up... Maki-chan writes about me and Kayo-chin, Kayo-chin writes about me and Maki-chan, and I've been caught writing about Maki-chan and Kayo-chin. Therefore... we must have had funny thoughts about each other all along!"
Rin's conclusion caused Hanayo's face to pale, and Maki's face to go red immediately as she walked up to Rin and chopped her head.
"Maki-chan, it hurts, nya!"
A/N:
Maki's handwriting being described as "not as neat" per se, is more or less a reference to the stereotype where doctors have really bad handwriting. It's intended that Maki has really bad handwriting here compared to Hanayo, but it's not really shown here.
