This is a one-shot to take my mind of the current story I'm writing. Hope you all like it! I do not own Labyrinth or its characters.
Patience was not a virtue that the Goblin King possessed.
But he had been waiting, lurking for over five years now. Yet, the more time passed, the more aggravated he became. Seeing how she would smile at others, smiles that were never meant for him. Hearing her goodhearted laugh for whoever managed to make her happy.
All in all, it was more a matter of persistence than patience. He was persistent to get the know the women she had become. All those years ago, he felt a connection with the girl, he fell in love with a girl who stood on the brick of adulthood. Now, he loved the women that stood in her room, rehearsing a speech.
He watched how her face lit up with all sorts of emotions, how her arms and hands gave force to the words she was saying.
The girl that she was, never really left now that she had become a woman. The person that she was, had just grown.
One day, he would show her his world again. The world she belonged to.
But only when she was ready.
And so the barn owl flew away from the branch he occupied, towards a kingdom unknown to most human souls. But in time he would return, with a queen to rule beside him.
But now he flew alone in the night, towards the first star on the right.
