Ode to Harry Potter 7
What a mingle,
Quite a mix.
The fans have gathered,
Sharing treats and tricks.
The day has come,
The joy has spread.
757 pages to go,
3440 read.
The hems are swaying,
The hats stand tall.
Contests for the mind,
Face paintings for all.
JK has brought them here,
Curiosity's made them stay.
Shall the Dark Lord be banished,
Has our boy found a way?
We've lost the strong and mighty,
From B to P and back.
Shocked for old Dumbledore,
And sorrowed for sweet, youthful Black.
We wonder about the traitor,
Judged him through the text.
We've already lost too many,
Who will be going next?
Kids wait and fidget,
Parents let patience hold true.
At least the kids are reading,
Though it's weird, misunderstood, and new.
People have picked their spots,
Grabbed books and friends to wait.
Seeing some old faces,
Several new on their way.
With half the group all dressed up,
And everyone all prepped.
I find I'm not one of them,
Not then,
Not now,
Not yet.
From B to P in and back. - The dead that mattered, that were big in the series, went in the Alphabet from Black to Potter. And back is just saying that Cedric Digory was killed before the Potters. It was a random line that came to mind, but seemed to work.
