James stood in the doorway to his son, Harry's bedroom. He didn't know that Lord Voldemort would be attacking that night as he watched Lily rock Harry to sleep. Harry looked up at his father with those brilliant green eyes and messy black hair, a sure sign that he was indeed Lily and James Potter's child. No one ever saw the attack coming as James stood watching Lily and their son in the bedroom silently.
The front door burst open suddenly, and Lily looked at James silently before saying, "Be careful my love." James stood in the doorway, turned around, and pulled out his wand as a safety precaution as he silently walked out of the room towards the stairs to see what had happened. As this was happening, Lily looked down at Harry, and said to her son, "I'll always love you no matter what happens tonight." Harry blinked at his mother once, then slowly started to fall asleep as he heard his mother's heartbeat.
Lily and James knew that something like this was going to happen eventually, but they never thought that it would happen that night. Harry slowly fell asleep in his mother's arms as James came running up the stairs trying to make sure that Harry and Lily were protected, even though he didn't think that he would die that night. He thought to himself, ' I'm sorry I had no time,' as he was killed slowly by the Sectumsempra curse casted by one of Lord Voldemort's followers. Lily screamed in fright as she saw James fall to the floor with cuts all over his body. She started to cry over his dead body, saying over and over again, "Why? Why did this have to happen? James wake up, please wake up... Harry and I need you!"
Lily soon realized that someone was standing over her with their wands pointed at her. Harry started to cry for his mother, and Lily rushed over to him before turning back to see the Killing Curse being hurled at her because of her actions. Suddenly, she rushed over to Harry's bed, and placed him in it before falling to the floor dead. She thought for a moment, 'I'm going home to a place where I'll be awake'. Yet Harry sat there calm and collected thinking that his parents would wake up and take care of whoever it was that was now pointing their wand at him. Soon enough there was a green light coming from the wand that was pointed at him, yet he didn't die or anything.
