Nathan sat alone on the beach carelessly throwing bits of sand into the surf. The sun was beginning to set and thoughts of Daley flooded his mind. He missed Melissa, whenever he would think about Daley he would talk to Melissa but with her gone he was left with nobody but himself. Thinking he was alone we peeled off his sweaty shirt and went for a swim. The cool water was a welcome sensation against his skin. He swam for a while but then started to feel a bit tired. He looked up towards the shore and saw that Daley was coming his way. He swam back to shore and plopped himself on the beach. Nathan smiled when he saw that she was still coming to him.

'Hi.' She said as she sat next to him. Nathan could not help but notice sad tone in her voice and the tear stains on her face.

'Hey, what's up?' For some reason that was the only thing he could think of saying even though he knew what was up. She smiled.

'I've just been thinking. I miss Eric, Melissa, and Jackson. Every since everyone else left, I feel like I failed or something.' Nathan tried to cut in but she cut him off. 'I know it's stupid but I thought everything was going so well and that everyone was happy. Turns out it was all a lie. When nobody voted on whether Abby and Eric could leave it felt like the biggest slap in the face.' She drew circles in the sand to hide the oncoming tears.

Nathan put his arm around her and she rested her head on his shoulder. Her hair smelled like salt and fruit

'Day, today when you tried to stop Abby and Eric from leaving it nearly killed me to see you so hurt. The thing is people can't always be controlled. Sure the democracy thing was working but I can't blame them for wanting to go home. You did everything you could.' She started to cry now and he felt horrible.

'I'm sorry Day. I didn't mean to make things worse. You probably hate me.' He tried to get her to look at him but she refused and continued to cry into his shoulder.

'No Nathan I don't hate you. Am I that bad?'

He shook his head and she flashed a weak smile. They sat there staring at the setting sun for quite some time just enjoying the feeling of being so close to each other. The silence was broken when Daley spoke in almost an inaudible whisper,

'Nathan, I know things have been weird between us ya know with my whole egotistical bitch routine. I just want you to know that when we had that first talk about us everything I said was a lie.' At this Nathan perked up listening even more intently then he had been.

'One thing I learned from this whole experience is what a great person you are. Even though you are a pain sometimes.' They both laughed. This time it was Nathan's turn to speak except he didn't speak. Instead he kissed her.
