Unfortunately I don't own any of the rights to Harry Potter characters as last time I checked I wasn't JK Rowling….R & R …Just a drabble really, though may continue if given positive feedback….

Severus Snape strode challengingly across the windswept terrain of Hogwarts grounds. The Northern breeze almost lovingly caressing billowing robes, striking an imposing figure along the rapidly darkening skyline. However, the elements paled in comparison to the icy chill currently assuaging his veins as an alien and equally unwelcome emotion coursed through him…guilt. He scowled, furiously massaging the image emblazoned upon his left forearm. Though hardly the extra sensory device Potter claimed his 'all singing - all dancing' scar to be, his mark often burned ever more intensely during the rare times that he felt vulnerable or unsettled, though he'd rather privately coach Longbottom through Advanced Potions than admit it, he reflected sourly. And unsettled he felt as he contemplated his recent meeting with the Headmaster. Though he would never have been first in line for Potter's seemingly imminent canonisation, the brusqueness and detachment Dumbledore had displayed during his confirmation that Potter had to die in order to defeat the Dark Lord had surprised him.

Guilt at thought of one more Potter he was powerless to save had reared its ugly head, startling green eyes, the last living remnant of Lily Evans would soon be confined only to memory..though undoubtedly that they should reside within a personage so physically and mentally akin to his infuriating father lessened the sting. Yet the guilt remained. Not to the extent that the dungeon floors would be worn with night time pacings nor sleepless nights, he had dryly hastened to reassure the Headmaster..and yet Severus Snape had been taken unawares..an unusual occurrence nonetheless.

Dumbledore's Army indeed, sneered Snape, well 'The Boy Who Lived' had been assigned his Kamikaze mission. The very fact that the boy hadn't yet perished in his attempt to vanquish the Dark Lord was surprising enough..still..thought Severus gaily, one can only hope… and his step visibly lightened. Potter's foolishness had cost that equally insufferable Black his life, not that that particular dog hadn't been straining at the leash to commit an oh so heroic act…yet compared with the icy calculation of the Dark Lord, Potter need only serve himself up for slaughter when the time came. Then again…paused Snape drily ..with the likes of Longbottom scaling the ranks of this elite force, perhaps the wizarding world can rest easy…with the DA on the trail the very fact that the Dark Lord is as of yet able to evade capture remains a mystery..

R & R..as not really sure if it's that readable...drat...Thanks!!!
