This Fanfic was made possible(due to convincing me to write it) by the author Once Upon a Pairing please keep in mind I'm not that good at writing. Also, my first attempt at an Avengers fic.
Disclaimer: I own jack squish. This is an overused idea, and Avengers belongs to Marvel.
.
For the purpose of this fanfic, Coulson was only technically dead, his heart stopping twice. And the council(I decided it wasn't Fury that was the A-hole making the canon decision) did not decide to let the Avengers think that Coulson was still dead. He recovers quicker than natural due to an on-staff mutant with major healing powers(Coulson and Fury are the only ones in SHEILD who know about her powers).
It started in the shawarma place. Not that most of those involved knew that, but it did.
The Avengers were sitting down to eat, Thor's brother bound and gagged on the floor next to his brother.
.
Privately, Tony was wondering about the switch in eye color that occurred after the Trickster had been slammed around by the Big Guy. Loki hadn't so much as twitched in defiance since, and not breathed a word since his request for alcohol even before the gag was placed on him. None of the others seemed to have noticed. Even Natasha, who had a great view of his formerly blue eyes when she'd interrogated the man didn't seem to realize his eyes had turned an emerald green. Despite his thoughts, the Merchant of Death didn't let it show just yet. He'd mention it later. For now, he was Tony Stark: Genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist.
.
The Archer had noted the change in eye color, momentarily pondered what it meant, before forcing himself to think of other things. It was probably another mind game, he told himself, ignoring his gut feeling for once.
.
The Widow calculated in her head what this change in behavior and eye color could mean. Loki could be planning something but… His once blue eyes were now green, the eyes that had seemed empty reflections of something unknown now filled with a broken soul. He had been easy to capture before, but overly dramatic and slightly resistant. Not surrender, but a strategic sacrifice. This was surrender. Then came the fact that Clint's eyes had been the same shade of blue while being controlled, added to the multiple hits to the head(and the rest of his body) by the Hulk… The Widow's eyes narrowed before she filed away her thoughts, now completely focused on the happenings around her.
.
The Scientist had no idea, and focused on his meal. However, the Hulk, as simple as the 'beast' was, had figured it out. The 'Puny God' had been controlled by the 'Blue Cube', but had been fixed by being SMASH!'d by Hulk. That was that for the Hulk.
.
The Thunderer worried over his brother's fate, but hid it behind his usual antics. The Captain merely ate his food alongside his fellow Avengers. None of them noticed the shadowy figure near the back.
.
The figure observed it's targets, careful not to be caught by the Spider or the Hawk. It had done this many times and in many ways, but still it's heart went out to the Targets that had suffered the most. The figure waved its hand, watching the silvery, nearly invisible spell begin to settle on the Targets. They would not notice until two minutes before the spell took effect. The figure then faded away, its work done for the time being.
.
So, yeah. It took me a month or so to even get this much... so, I hope it was okay...
