So hey. What's up? I'm back, after a long time of... inactivity. Heh. Just recently, I got hooked on 'KZD?'; so I checked out to see if they had any fanfics in here, but it turns out they only have a few. Well. Guess I gotta contribute a little bit, then.

Disclaimer: I don't own KZD, yadda yadda.

Edit: I'm in a bit of a slump, and a four month summer is making me a bit bored, so I guess I'm back for a bit. Edited some stuff, too.

Kore wa Zombie Desu Ka? of the Dead: Rewrite

Chapter One - Seraphim

"That's stupid," Seraphim muttered, looking to the side and allowing her bangs to cover her eyes.

"Oh? So I was right, after all."

Kyouko huffed triumphantly.

"Why don't you confess to him then?" she asked. Seraphim turned to Kyouko, frowning, cheeks slightly pink.

"I do not like him that way," she growled, and let herself be engulfed with leaves which left nothing but air in its wake.

The raven-haired, green eyed vampire-ninja sighed as she sat down on the swing, feeling disturbed by her previous encounter with a certain crazy Masou Shoujo. 'Why don't you confess to him then'? Ha! What a joke. A small sigh escaped her lips as her gaze lowered to the ground, repeating and turning Kyouko's words over and over in her mind. She couldn't help but think... had Kyouko really noticed something? Just how obvious was Sera being?

Ugh.

Yes, she might like Ayumu. Just a skosh bit. As more of a friend than anything else.

(Or so she'd hoped.)

But then again, even if she did like him more than that, she had no chance to get him anyway, right? It was always, 'Yuu this,' and 'Yuu that'. You'd think that hell would freeze over before Ayumu thinks about even considering Sera as a potential romantic partner.

Looking up at the school building's windows, Seraphim saw Ayumu's dehydrated silhouette still trying to convince his other classmates to go to his 'mixer party'. To be honest, he looked more like a shriveled up, papery piece of fruit flapping in the wind than a normal human being. Perhaps dried mango?

Seraphim began to swing back and forth, becoming even more puzzled about her... feelings... for the zombie. The blonde Masou Shoujo's words began to blur together in her mind, and Sera tried to reevaluate her behaviour towards Ayumu. She was sure she hadn't really done anything to warrant Kyouko accusing her for liking him in a romantic aspect. What the hell did Kyouko have against her? How would she know?

The dark haired girl frowned. She was being a bit too paranoid. She should really stop talking to Kyouko. With the amount of crazy going on in her screw-loosed brain, Sera was sure Kyouko's insanity was infectious.

Stuck in her thoughts, Sera didn't realize that night had fallen, and that the person/zombie that was occupying her current puzzled thoughts was slowly approaching her.

"Sera? What're you doing here?" he asked. Seraphim snapped out of her thoughts and jumped out of her seat on the swing, clearly surprised and very jumpy. Her leaf sword was half-formed before she realized that it was only Ayumu. Thank the gods it wasn't some abnormal hoe spouting nonsense about other people's love lives.

"Ah, kuso mushi, it's just you. Um, I was just... swinging..." she finished awkwardly, like she wasn't sure what she was saying. Ayumu raised his left brow in slight dubiousness, but he accepted her excuse, anyway.

"Come on, Sera. Let's go home, the sun's down already," he said. Seraphim just nodded and followed Ayumu. In her mind, she heaved a sigh of relief. If he actually found out the reason why I really came here, she thought, I think I'd kill myself.

"Ah, thank goodness it's Friday," Ayumu said, stretching out his tired muscles. "I'll be able to oversleep tomorrow, or maybe even watch a movie tonight... hey, speaking of movies... Sera, do you want to watch this new movie with me later? I've heard it's nice."

"A movie? Oh... uh, sure. Yuu and Haruna are coming, right?" Seraphim asked. She wanted to slap herself for thinking, even for just a split second, that he asked her out on a date with just the two of them. Dear gods, Kyouko really was rubbing off on her.

"Oh, well, sure," he replied. "They're a bit too young, but I guess we could give it a try."

Ah. So it was just supposed to be the two of them.

Seraphim wanted nothing more than to squash the disgusting warmth, however little it was, that began to spread on her chest. This was all Kyouko's fault. She swore she'd rip that maniac's pigtails out the next time she saw her.

Finally arriving at the Aikawa residence, Seraphim and Ayumu made their entrance by calling out the usual 'tadaima'. The first thing that greeted them was the sound of a stomach growling.

"Hey, Ayumu, make dinner already!" Haruna complained, not even looking away from the television screen. Yuu held up her notepad, a 'welcome home' written on it, followed by a less audible growl of the stomach. If you don't start making dinner now, I'm going to kill your zombie ass off, Yuu wrote after. The two who were left home were clearly very hungry, as Ayumu had come home later than usual.

[This is the fantasy of our weak-hearted protagonist!]

Yuu: We've been waiting so desperately for you, onii-chan!

Yuu: Oh, onii-chan, please make dinner! I'm hungry...

[Back to reality]

"Alright, alright, I'll cook dinner now..." he said with a dreamy look on his face. Seraphim, disgusted by the zombie's more-than-obvious perverted male fantasies, decided to head over to the dining area to set the plates. Thanks to Yuu and Haruna's constant threatening, it didn't take long before dinner was served.

"Seraphim and I are watching a movie later. Do you want to come?" Ayumu asked, addressing the Masou-Shoujo and the Necromancer.

I don't mind, Yuu wrote. Haruna could only nod, as so much food was stuffed into her mouth. She swallowed it after a few seconds, though, and almost immediately held her empty rice bowl out and yelled, "Seconds!"

Ayumu just sweatdropped and did what he was told.

"The movie is called Kore wa Zombie Desu Ka," he announced. "It's about a zombie in a bit of a harem. A lot of my classmates told me it was good, and I'm a zombie, so I guess I'm a bit interested."

"What time does the movie start?" Seraphim asked. Ayumu shrugged and looked at the clock.

"In about 20 minutes," he replied nonchalantly. "According to the time I checked online."

Ah, 20 minutes?

The zombie's eyes widened in a panic. If it weren't for the fact that he didn't have blonde pigtails, Sera would've thought it was Kyouko's doppelganger. An ugly doppelganger with a testosterone overdose, she thought, putting the last bite of her dinner into her mouth.

"WE NEED TO HURRY UP OR WE'LL MISS IT!"

"W... We actually made it with 5 minutes to spare!" Ayumu heaved, out of breath. They were lucky the movie house was only less than five minutes away. He wiped the sweat on his forehead with his arm. Let's go in so we can get some nice seats, Yuu wrote. The rest of the group nodded and followed her inside.

"Ow - hey, watch it mister!" Haruna called out at the man who stepped on her foot and almost made her spill her drink.

"Oh, I'm terribly sorry, miss," the man apologized, turning to face the young girl. He was very handsome, with ocean blue eyes and jet-black hair that was styled to be a bit messy, giving him a bit of a rough look. From his facial features, he seemed to be a foreigner.

Seraphim's eyes widened slightly once she recognized the familiar scar on the man's left brow. She stopped dead in her tracks, left behind as the other girls began to shuffle to their seats.

"You..." she growled, with a scowl on her face. The man just smiled deviously.

"It's nice to see you again, Secchan."

Seraphim's scowl deepened. "Don't you dare call me that." She looked like she was about to jump him and tear his insides apart. Ayumu, who hadn't gone with the other girls, held her back, alarmed and very sure that the vampire-ninja would have no qualms in doing so.

"Come on, Sera. The movie's going to start," he said, quite confused about what was happening at that moment. Does Sera know this guy? He seems creepy.

"What's wrong? Are you running away, Secchan?" the mysterious raven haired man asked. "Ooh. Is this your new boyfriend?"

Ayumu had to restrain Seraphim even more after this, and he was beginning to have a hard time despite his strength.

"O-Oi, Sera," he whispered urgently, "Now's not the time. We'll deal with him later." Ayumu looked pointedly at the guy, already not liking him.

"Fine," she conceded, and glared at the smirking man one last time before Ayumu led her to where Yuu and Haruna were seated.

"Oi, Ayumu and Miss Vampire! What took you so long?" Haruna whispered.

"I'm not sure," Ayumu replied, a slightly worried look on his face. "Just some dude." He glanced at the seat beside him. Seraphim's face was neutral, but Ayumu could feel that she was uneasy. That's unusual. I wonder if it's because of the guy earlier.

Does she know him?
