Audra Eilian Jones collapsed on the bed and wailed. Her mother had died. She had been sad when her mother died, but Audra was even more devastated to learn that everything she owned had been given to her younger brother, Eric, and all she was left with was some old trunk of her mothers. She had always been mother's favorite, so she couldn't understand why she was left with so little. The doorbell rang, and Audra got up to answer it.
"Hey, I brought your box over. And this showed up in my mail for you." Eric said with a sad smile. He handed over a little blue envelope with swirly handwriting on it.
"Thanks. So I guess I'll see you later then?" Audra slammed the door in his face and locked it. She pulled the envelope apart and quickly read the letter to herself, tears forming in her eyes.
My Dear Audra,
I just want to let you know that I don't love your brother more. I left you the trunk because its contents can give you much more than what your brother got. I decided to leave you this long ago, the day you were born. I know you have heard that you look just like me and that's why. Have you ever wondered why I valued your life much more than that of your brother? Because I know that you will be able to appreciate the contents of that trunk more. I even named you special. Your name means two things, storm and moment in time. And hopefully in due time you will know why I named you that.
Love,
Your Mother
Audra was shocked. What could possibly be so important about an old trunk? Pulling out the odd skeleton key from the envelope, she opened the trunk. Inside were a couple of old books and some scarves. Underneath that was a shoe box painted blue. Audra opened it to find an odd looking key and a cell phone programmed with only three numbers. She picked up the key to examine it more closely when it glowed red hot. A weird sound followed it outside. She rushed to the window and opened the curtains.
"Holy sh!"
