The Red Button
Disclaimer: I don't own them or the red button.
It was large and red, anything that large - so big it dwarfed everything else, and as colourful as a plump tomato, just begged to be pushed. That was Mike's theory and he held strongly to it. Don, insisted that the button should not be pushed, that pushing the button was bad. The button was red to say STOP! Do not pass go, do not collect two hundred.
"But what will happen if I do push it?" Mike asked, "It can't be like tidal waves and the end of the world as we know it can it?"
"It would be worse, the most horrible thing you can imagine magnified a thousand times." Don declared emphatically, blocking Mike from touching it.
Mike resisted the lure then, he had too, Don was too watchful, he was very much aware of what his brother was up to. But Mike could not stop thinking about the red button, the siren call, his imagination ran wild of what the red button could do. Until everything else had been pressed from his mind, and only the desire to press the red button remained.
Stealthily, he slipped into the lab when Don was out, working quickly he went and pressed the red button, a grinding noise began, and a large metal door rose up. Don entered the room and gasped, dropping his coffee cup and eyes bulged as he heard the noise behind the door, he yelled loudly "Run, everyone out of the lair we're under attack!"
Mike hearing the noise trembled now, not so sure he should have pushed the red button, he was at least thankful that he was quick and bypassed Don in his escape. The family raced through the sewers trying to dodge and out race the terror that had been unleashed.
Pausing to catch his breath and listen to see if they were being followed Leo asked, "Was security compromised Don?"
Don glared crossing arms over his plastron, " You could say that. Mike, pushed the button." Don announced grimly giving the turtle a sour look.
The other members of the family whirled, "How could you Mike?" Leo snapped.
"It was the red button idjit!" Raph fumed.
Mike gave a weak grin, "Well, how was I suppose to know that the red button would unleash the ravenous fan girls?"
