I know it's late but, here is something small I wrote in honor of remembering 9/11... (Disclaimer; I don't own Alex Rider or any of that awesome sauce stuff)
Remembering 9/11
Tuesday mornings were usually quiet in the Rider/Starbright household. For it was one of the few mornings Jack didn't have to wake up and cook Alex breakfast before school because it was late start day. So when Alex heard loud crying downstairs at just a little after 9:30 in the morning he became very confused and concerned.
"Jack?" Alex called while walking down the stairs. "Jack are you all right?"
Though as soon as Alex walked into the living room he knew that his friend was not alright. In front of him was a picture he would never forget. Jack was crying, curled up in a ball on the couch watching the news. On the t.v it showed live video feed of the American trade centers, or at least what was left of them. For where once stood two brilliant towers was now just a pile of rubble, fire covered the ground and smoke-filled the air. People where completely covered in ash, that hung in the air like snow. The whole site looked like something out of a horror film.
"Jack, what happened?" Alex asked taking a deep breath, hoping it wasn't what it looked like.
"A-a-alex, m-my sssister. She worked there." That was all Jack replied before tears and snot overtook her.
Alex couldn't believe it. How could someone do this? How could someone kill so many people, destroy so many families, and break so many heart? What could justify something like this?
Alex spent the rest of the day watching the news and trying to comfort Jack. While Jack spent the day talking to her family on the phone and crying in her room. It took a while but after weeks of grieving and flying out to the states for her sister's funeral Jack was able to return to normal.
Though the two of them never forgot what happened on that dreadful morning. Every Tuesday they wake up praying that the news channel won't have anything 'exciting' to report. And every night they are haunted with the images of what happened. Alex and Jack remember that morning and the lives that were lost, especially those that were close to them, and the hope that others remember 9/11 as well. For it was a day where families were separated, hearts where broken, and lives were lost. No one will ever be the same after that heart-rending morning.
Hope you enjoyed, remember that 9/11 isn't just some story we hear about. It's real and effects people all around the world still today... Until next time-Red
