"Hey babe," Jade greeted her one year girlfriend with a peck on the cheek, though the girl wasn't as enthusiastic as she usually was and just smiled.
"What's wrong?" she asked, tone full of nothing but concern.
"My parents have been fighting since last night." 'Ah.' it clicked on Jade, the girl's parents have been fighting a lot lately. Though Jade was used to those kinds of things as her parents fought and ignored each other a lot on a weekly basis, her girlfriend; not so much.
"Dad hasn't even come back home since last night and Mom left early this morning and didn't even cook us breakfast. Do you have any idea how many eggs I wasted because Trina had so many complaints about each one and then finally just settling on toast and jam and still criticized my cooking." She huffed in frustration but her eyes were getting watery from the tears that were building.
"Hey," Jade caressed her girl's face gently and caring. Something others wouldn't expect from the girl who was always feared and had a weird obsession over scissors.
"Tori, babe, it's going to be okay." She said with such gentleness in her voice that it even sent warmth throughout the half-Latina's body.
"They will eventually come to terms and they'll be all lovey-dovey in no time," she finished with that smile that her girl loved.
Tori sniffed and wiped her eyes, "Yeah, I hope so."
"I know, we could go out later tonight, get some sushi and just have fun. What do you think?"
"I love it," said Tori and kissed the pale girl on the lips as the loud bell signaling for classes to soon begin broke them apart. They separated down the halls as they had different first and second periods. But for the rest of the afternoon they had the whole time with their crazy acting teacher.
"Jade!" Sikowitz called out with much excitement.
"What?" the girl asked, with no tone of excitement at all. She had her legs propped up on one of the chairs and arms crossed, her girlfriend next to her. Ever since they started going out, the Goth had been a little bit more tolerable.
"Up on stage," he said pointing back to the stage with his thumb. "With Cat and Robbie," he pointed to the two, respectively. As the three settled themselves on stage, Sikowitz continued, "We're going to do a simple play, Cat and Robbie you two are together. Jade you are the mother and you don't want Robbie as Cat's fiancé."
"That sounds easy enough," Jade made her signature smirk.
"Begin!"
"Misses-"
"NO!"
"Okay," Robbie meekly replied.
"Robbie, you at least have to defend back," said Sikowitz, looking rather disappointed at the puppeteer. The boy was about to do so but when he looked at the glaring eyes of Jade West he whimpered behind the redhead who just kept giggling. The bell soon rang, signaling the end of class, Sikowitz gave off a heavy sigh and dismissed them.
"You could've at least played a bit nicer," said Tori as her girlfriend slung her bag on her shoulder. But Jade just shrugged and took Tori's hand in hers. They went to their separate lockers to put back their books. Tori walked over to her girl's locker and kissed her as she finished off chucking her books. They walked hand in hand as they passed through the school's parking lot. They arrived at Jade's car but not without a little heated make out session.
"If we don't stop now, we won't be able to go on our date," said Tori, a little out of breathe. Jade gave her one last peck and walked around the driver's seat. Tori would hold Jade's left hand when it wasn't pre-occupied with the gears.
"Want to dump your stuff at my place, too?" asked Tori.
"Nah, I'm good," she answered and Tori kissed her before getting out of the car.
As the half-Latina got closer to the door, she could hear the angry voices trying to overpower the other. Her grip on her bag tightened as she opened the door.
"You are having an affair with my partner!" David Vega shouted.
"How dare you accuse me of such a thing!"
"Then explain to me why you were in the police car with him!"
"I told you! He asked for help with his pearpod and told me to get in as he had it plugged to the radio!" Holly Vega shouted back at him again. "Tori, tell your father how ridiculous he is, accusing me of something I DID NOT do!" She suddenly said as she saw her daughter standing at the doorway.
"I don't need any proof; I saw everything with my own two eyes! You were inside laughing along his jokes. I should have known, you were always there when he was around." They kept bickering at each other about cheating and proof and then came the word divorce.
"STOP IT!" Tori shouted at the top of her lungs. "Just stop it! Both of you! I don't knows who's telling the truth and I don't know who's at wrong but I don't care! I just want you two to stop all this nonsense! As annoying Trina is I don't want us to be a broken family. I don't want us to be torn apart! And the other starting a new family, I don't want any other family, I want you, you're my family and it pains me to have to see you two crumble apart…" her tears began to pour at the start of her speech and Trina was already by the stairs as she finished. She was openly crying now, her father wanted to comfort her but as soon as he touched her, she flinched away like his touch was fire that would no doubt hurt her.
"I just want everything to be okay again." She said with a quiet voice, but they still heard her.
She turned to run back to Jade's car who was now standing at the passenger's door. She got worried at how long Tori was taking. When she saw the said girl running back her bag still with her, got Jade worried. It was when Tori slammed into her did she realize the girl had cry. And was still crying. She comforted the girl, making circles at the girl's back to soothe her.
"I'm sorry Jade," she sobbed out, "I'm not up for food anymore."
"Let's head to my place then." Jade offered and Tori nodded against her body. "Come on then." She carefully led Tori into the passenger's seat. The girl was busy stopping and drying off the tears as Jade drove off into the road and into their garage.
She held Tori close and decided to carry her bridal style since the girl didn't seem to have much energy left. As she got into her room, she gently put the half-Latina on the queen-sized bed and let her snuggle into her. Jade hummed a soft melody and caressed Tori's head and she immediately fell into slumber.
It was around 10 pm when Tori woke up and Jade was still holding her close, humming a new song. When she felt Tori shift, she looked down and smiled, "You finally awake?"
"Yeah… I'm sorry. About the date. Getting cancelled," she said as she started to sit up.
"No worries, I ordered some pizza , figured we could just have a movie night," said Jade and Tori gave her a kiss.
"How did I ever get so lucky?" she mumbled against the other girl's lips.
"That is something we both don't know the answer to," said Jade with her traditional smirk and Tori just smacked her arm playfully.
"Hey!" Jade rubbed her arm. "Fine, just for that you can buy your own pizza." She said getting off the bed and heading out the door.
"But I'm utterly depressed."
"You're complaining like you aren't and you already soaked my clothes and slept in my bed, that should be enough," Jade smirked as she looked back at Tori. But the girl's face was suddenly crestfallen and Jade immediately rushed over to her side.
"Hey, I was just kidding. You can sleep in my bed and wet my clothes all you want."
"I'm sorry, I know you were just joking, but I can't help but be mad at myself for dragging you into this. It's a family problem; I shouldn't have to get you into it, too."
"That doesn't matter, whatever problem you have I'm here to listen. Like how you always listen to every judging rant I do on people." Tori chuckled at that, and Jade was glad, 'cause she wanted to lighten up the mood.
"And again, you're too good to me."
"Don't mention it," she said and gave her a light kiss on the lips. "Seriously, don't mention it to anybody."
Tori swung her arms around Jade's neck saying, "Of course, we wouldn't want people to see how sweet the big bad meanie, Jade West is." Jade was going to retort her when the half-Latina's stomach started grumbling. Making its hunger known and leaving Tori blushing.
Jade chuckled, "Alright, I'm going to get the food, you start up the movie." As Jade headed downstairs, Tori tried to look for the least scary movie amongst Jade's collection of horror movies. She settled for one of the little cartoon horrors that Jade would watch with her little brother.
Tori turned on the DVD player and TV. She put on the DVD and clicked play. A few minutes later Jade came in with a box of pizza and four cans of soda in a pack. Jade looked over the television, it was already starting the little intro and she looked Tori with a raised brow.
"Seriously, Tor?"
"What? You said pick a movie and I picked one," she gestured to the television. Jade just rolled her eyes and plopped down next to her scaredy-cat of a girl. She set the pizza just a distance away and leaned back on her bed's headboard while Tori snuggled up next to her.
"At least it's still demented in a way," Tori commented as she grabbed a pizza.
Three more movies, those being chosen by Jade, and they were finally tired, it was already past 1 AM and they still had school tomorrow. They agreed that they would just have to try to get up early tomorrow so Jade could drive Tori back to her place and get a change of clothes and her stuff for tomorrow's classes.
It was 6:00 am when Tori woke to her alarm and tried to wake Jade but instead she just pulled the cover over her head. Knowing she won't be able to get the girl moving without her coffee Tori trotted down the stairs and into the kitchen to make her girlfriend some coffee. She halted at the doorway to see Jade's mother sipping her own coffee.
"Tori, good morning. I didn't know you stayed the night." She said looking up from the fashion magazine she was reading.
"Morning…yeah, sorry 'bout that."
"It's alright, you come here a lot often now, I'd say you're family already," the woman smiled. She resembled Jade so much, and if that was how Jade was going to turn out in her 30's then wowza!
"Is there something you wanted?" Mrs. West asked, taking Tori out of her stupor.
"Uh…no, I mean yes…uh…" Tori mentally slapped herself for being a stuttering mess. "I'm here to make Jade coffee, hoping I'll wake her up without having to throw a tantrum."
"Ahh…I see. Why don't you make your own and I'll make Jade's," Mrs. West offered.
"Uhm…"
"One cream and two sugars right?" she asked as she grabbed a cup from the cabinet.
"Yeah, but, Jade likes the cup with the big scissors," Tori pointed out.
"Of course, this is one of your gifts to her, right?" she asked and Tori nodded. She proceeded to make Jade's coffee, while Tori was a bit reluctant at first, she finally gave in since Jade's mother seemed to know her daughter's preference. So Tori just started mixing her own coffee, unlike Jade, she liked her coffee a little bit sweeter and with a bit more cream.
"Here you go,' Mrs. West gave her the cup of coffee when she finished.
"Thank you, but you really didn't have to do that."
"I wanted to," Mrs. West smiled and Tori returned the kind gesture. "You're a rather good influence on her Tori, thank you."
"I don't really mean to change Jade, I mean, it is her little ganky-ness that I fell for her."
"I know, and I'm thankful for that as well, you accepted her the way she is and now you've sort of, even her out," she explained, "You've been coming around quite often, it's not that I mind, but why though?"
"Oh…uhm…"
"It's fine, if you're uncomfortable about it."
"Well, a little but…it's a bit of family problem."
"Parents fighting?" Tori hesitated, but she nodded anyway. "Well, from what I know, your parents seem to be good people and they brought up such a sweet daughter as yourself, I'm sure they can get through."
"I really hope so," Tori was about to leave but spoke, "I know it's really none of my business, but it'd be really nice if you and your husband could both go to Jade's shows more often, she actually just directed a new one and it'll be next Friday, it'd be great if you guys could go, as a family with Jared and all. " Mrs. West, looked down to her coffee, and Tori was suddenly nervous that she may have over stepped the line of their little chit-chat.
"I'm sorry," she blurted, "I just- I know how you guys are always busy- so yeah I think that's understandable- I just wish-"
"Okay," Mrs. West interjected between Tori's ramble. "We'll try, I know how much it means to her, when at least one of us goes, she doesn't show it, but I guess she is an actress, but a daughter can never hide anything from a mother. So, we'll try." Mrs. West smiled in Tori's direction, speaking of; the girl's face seemed to light up like the fourth of July from her statement.
"Thank you, and yes, you're right, she does appreciate it when you go to her shows."
"Tori!" There was a shout and another as Jade suddenly appeared at the kitchen door. "Oh, I hope I woke you with my shouting," she smirked at her mother.
"I was already awake," her mother smirked back and Tori was looking at the two women, back and forth, they seriously could've looked like twins only Jade's mother was of course, a tad older.
With those words, Jade's face turned into a frown, she saw her favorite cup in Tori's hand and took it from her, taking a long sip. There was nothing but silence that followed, Tori was fiddling with her thumbs, cup still in both hands, when Mrs. West finally stood up.
"Well, I have work to go to, have a nice day ladies." Tori smiled up at her and before she could fully leave Jade spoke up, "Thank you." It was loud enough that her mother could hear, and Jade couldn't see it, but her mother smiled at the small gesture.
"You're welcome." She replied and was out the door. Jade continued to drink from her coffee and rolled her eyes when Tori wouldn't stop with the idiotic smile she had plastered on her face.
"Would you stop that?" Jade chastised.
"I knew you were always a softie in there," she said as she poked Jade's shoulder and the girl just pouted, looking away from her girl.
"Hey, how'd you know it was your Mom who made it?"
"She was the first person to know, my preference of coffee." Jade shrugged. "And there's just this distinct taste when she makes it, it's not bad, it's just very distinctive." Others would have probably raised her brow at that, but Tori knew what she meant, it was like how her Mom's family pot pie is nothing compared to all the other pot pies of world renowned chef's.
"I get it," she said. Jade held her girlfriend's hand as she felt her mood get a bit somber.
"Everything's gonna be okay," she said offering a smile and Tori just nodded. "Now hurry up, you still have to take a bath when we get at your place. You know I don't get why you wouldn't just wear some of my clothes."
"I don't do black." Tori simply answered, finishing her coffee.
"I think you'd look hot," Jade whispered huskily as she took Tori by her shirt. The half-Latina's eyes shifted form Jade's eyes to her lips and the paler of the two crashed their lips together. It was soft at first, a few nipping her and there and then tongues started to dance, hands moving from theirs sides to each other's back, trying to mold their bodies together.
A fake cough interrupted their make-out session, and the two still very flustered turned to see Jade's mother a bit red in the cheeks, standing at the doorway who was now in her business attired uniform. Tori was trying to hide behind her hair while Jade just rolled her eyes.
"What is it?" Jade asked, getting her breathing normal again.
"I forgot my glasses." She said and walked over to the other side of the table. "Good luck with your parent's Tori." She said as she passed the two.
"You told her?" Jade raised her brow at her girl who just shrugged and Jade returned with shaking her head. "C'mon, she basically just tried to remind us of what we had to do." Not like the old times where she held Tori by the wrist she know held Tori by the hand, their fingers always interlaced.
They finally arrived at the Vega's residence, this time Jade went along with her. Tori opened the door and was surprised to be hugged by her mother who began rambling of how worried they became after she stormed out.
"It's okay Mom, I was with Jade and I guess my phone got lowbat at some point." She said, trying to reassure her mother that she was fine.
"It's good to know, you didn't go off wandering. Thank you Jade," this time her father piped in.
"Tori, we're sorry, about last night. Your mother and I tried to talk things out last night and well," they smiled at each other affectionately, "we cleared things out, and we're going to have a one week vacation next week just the two of us get things back, and maybe during summer we could go on a family vacation."
Tori happily hugged both of her parents and openly crying, "I'm so glad, I love you guys so much, I don't want us to be separated, no matter how annoying Trina is," she added.
"Hey!" Trina shouted at the top of the stairs, "Just for that, I'm picking where we're going for summer; Hawaii!"
"You just want to go there 'cause of all the guys strutting around with their bare abs."
"Yup! And I get them all to myself, since you're hooked up with," Trina didn't finished and just looked Jade up and down. The pale girl glared at the obstinate, talentless older Vega.
"Trina," her father warned, " be nice to Jade, and as for the vacation, it's not until summer and until then me and your mother are going to plan our vacation."
"I'm just so glad everything's okay," Tori said and they hugged again, Trina included. The girl's got an excuse to just skip school for the day, since they were already late for the first class and they were rather tired of everything that has happened.
Tori and Jade were snuggled up in Tori's bed, after the half-Latina changed into some more comfortable clothes. Tori had her head buried in the cook of Jade's hand and her arm lazily lay on top of the pale girl's stomach. In other words, Jade was basically her life-sized cuddle pillow.
"Told you everything would be okay," Jade said after some minutes of silence.
"Yeah, but with you around, everything always feels okay," Tori smiled up at her girlfriend.
"God, you're such a sap," she replied with a roll of her eyes and Tori chuckled.
"I love you." That was something Jade would never tire of hearing or complain about. Ever.
"I love you, too." And that was something Tori always treasured because she knows Jade means it more than anything in the world.
