I'm ALLIVE!

-dancedancedance-

Just a oneshot, because life is kicking mah butt.

Because Sai is honestly very much my favorite character ATM. And I personally believe he's so far in the closet he's in Narina.

He's drinking tea with the white witch and Sasuke. ;)

Sai could honestly not remember ever feeling- feeling, what a weird concept- like this in recent memory.

From the day of his initiation into Root, the same idea had been drilled into him constantly. Emotion was unnecessary. Emotion was irrelevant to the mission. Emotion was an obstruction, to be removed.

Unfortunately, being away from the inner quarters of Root had caused this mindless chant in his head to slow to a whisper.

And in the space that it left, there was beginning to be a very bright, very loud, presence that smelled of the summer sun, clean sweat and warm ramen broth.

It had started rather innocently; just his heart knocking a bit quicker when clear blue eyes cut his way.

Then it was more often. Sai learned to recognize little things about him; the quirking of his mouth before a smile dawned, the way he threw his head back and laughed, the way those blue eyes would flutter hazily in the dusk as they walked home from training.

The confusing tangle grew and grew, until Sai had let curiosity get the better of him and had quietly lurked around the Adult Entertainment sections of various stores. If it were possible for one act in his life to be simultaneously disastrous and miraculous, it was that.

And now what's left of him is tossing in his sheets, and he can't think of Naruto without parting his lips and fluttering his eyes.

Behind said eyes are things Sai can never, ever, upon pain of his painful, self inflicted death show to anyone else. From what corner of his mind they sprung from he couldn't say; but they were there and only grew clearer by the day.

Traced lines of ink on the plane of strong shoulders.

Go away. Go away now.

Perhaps he had studied him too closely, and this…this was normal, somehow. Perhaps it was also passing, something to be soon forgotten and laughed at carelessly later.

Bull. It was his shining smile, his gold skin, his incessant presence that had gotten him into this, whatever it was. He had infiltrated his mind, onto the very backs of his eyelids, and had no way of getting out.

The loudmouthed, stupid boy was solely responsible for those endless cold showers, and no one else.

But if there was one thing he could be sure of was that this... not quite an obsession, stopping short of an infatuation…this fixation, perhaps? on him was going nowhere fast.

Read and Review, my pretties!
