Small talk
Rydia stepped out of the whale, she wrapped her arms around her slender body. Trying to shake off that sudden feeling of fear that was beginning to creep up inside of her ever since they landed on the moon. She casted her glance among the rocky terrain. The whole place looked like nothing but a barren wasteland.
She looked up into the pitch black sky,wishing she was back on the blue planet again, and together with the eidolons. She probably shouldn't be surprised, when she felt a hand grip her shoulder. Of course it wouldn't be long before somebody noticed her absence, she doubted it at the first place when she decided to sneak out while everyone else was asleep. Rydia turned, and the person behind her was non other than Edge, the Eblanian prince or as she'd like to call the 'obnoxious ninja', for all those times he attempted to flirt with her. "Rydia? What are you doing here?" He asked, the unreadable expression on his face seemed to cleverly mask the concern in his voice. Rydia swept away his hand away from his shoulder. Feeling somewhat irritated all a sudden. She ignored him, hoping he'll get the message and leave her alone. But unfortunately, he was as stubborn as a wild chocobo. Edge stepped out so that he stood in front of Rydia.
"What is it?" He demanded. To be frank, he sounded rather ticked off. Rydia sighed, all she wanted was to be alone then Edge had to jump in. "Edge, please. I-I just want to be alone alright?" She must've sounded sad because Edge's expression softened, his voice became comforting.
"Hey, come on, I'm sorry. You know, you could just talk about it."
Rydia paused, hesitating for a while before finally giving in. "I'm scared. I've never been here before, this place, the moon, it seems so different and I don't know what will happen with Zemus. I don't know how we can win this battle."
She glared at her feet. Feeling hopeless and pitiful.
Then Edge did something she never expected. He brought his arms around her and pulled her close to him. The sudden gesture made her feel warm and safe and confident again. Then carefully, Edge settled his chin on her shoulder and whispered into her ear. " I promise you, Rydia. No matter what happens." He paused and pulled her away slightly to look into her eyes. " I will always be there by your side."
Rydia felt a smile play through her lips, after hearing those words, she felt alright again. She took Edge's hand in hers and walked back to the Lunar Whale.
