Eternal Twilight
You see red.
Blinded by anger, you resent them all.
As soon as the thought escapes from the deep recesses of your subconscious, you immediately take that back.
How could you possibly resent Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy, the love of your life, and your parents, the ones who always cared for you?
Exactly.
You can't choose between them either.
You remember falling in love with Scorpius. You had spent years being friends with the boy, and somewhere between all your long conversations, nights at the lake, hours in the library, and pulling pranks with the rest of the Potter-Weasley clan, you fell hard for him. He was your best friend and the only boy who understood and treated you properly, even better than Al. Scorpius told you to do whatever would make you happy; however, he also knew that your parents would never accept him, hurting you.
He hates seeing you hurt and torn, of course.
How could you possibly refuse someone who cares for you so irrevocably, who makes you feel so special?
Then again, your parents were war heroes; they risked their lives in order to give you a better and brighter future. Your dad had spent years with you, playing Quidditch and chess, and teaching you the values that you needed. Your mother had introduced you to the classical literature that you love today, still, and engaged with you in long conversations about life. They had always been there for you and supported you, and that was exactly why they were hurt to see you "fraternize with the ferret's son".
They hate seeing you, what they like to call, "throwing away" your future.
How could you possibly refuse them, parents so dear and wonderful, who have helped you through this world with the experience they have?
Suddenly, your life is thrown into turmoil and you cannot find your way out of this dark, controversial, mental labyrinth.
Cogitating on the pros and cons, you know to your heart that the list for both sides would be too long to come up with a logical decision.
And yet, you laugh quietly at the irony that your parents fought a war to eliminate prejudice, yet they cannot accept the man you love so dearly. Once again, you find yourself at a dead end, in an eternal twilight.
Scorpius is like the night sky, which you love so much, and the dawn of day is like your parents, who have loved you since before you experienced the first light of the world. The twilight, which blends the beautifully darkening night sky with the ebbing golden rays of dawn, reflects your stance and your wish for the two halves of your world to stay in harmony.
However, the turmoil that is your emotions surfaces, and once again you see red.
Asking you to choose between family and love is like asking you to choose between your heart and your brain; you cannot exist without both.
Nobody could possibly understand the conundrum that the simple question raised, not a single soul. Yet you realize that all your thoughts, once organized and carefree, are now wild, confused, chaotic.
Then suddenly, the answer comes to you.
It's a hard choice, but you know it's for the best.
You slowly walk into the room where your fiancée and your parents are waiting.
You take a slow, deep breath and begin to explain…
After all, you cannot live an eternal twilight.
