A.N/ Dearest guest who reviewed without looking at the latest chapter. I was 13 when I started writing this, give me a bit of slack as I was aware how much shit this sucked. Also, I clearly stated that this was being rewritten in the final chapter. Now here is the rewritten version. This is unbeta'd.
I run down the hall at speeds that make me look like a blur, knowing that if I look back I will never make it out.
I may be fast but the doors are faster.
The light above them goes red and I feel a pull as the doors stay open just a moment longer and I get through. It locked the bastards in, serves them right after what they did to us.
I look down at the child that I had run with. Her ebony hair and pale skin made her bright blue eyes stand out. She was so young. So… innocent. Of course I had to take her with me. I shut down the trackers completely by draining the source of power. Thy wouldn't be getting us ever again.
For the next few weeks we were getting away from the science bastards base. Eventually I went to where I last remembered my parents being. I went to the store and asked the only person I recognized as to where my parents had gone. He didn't believe it was me at the beginning but then it must have clicked.
"So it is you huh. Sorry to be the one to tell ya, but your parents passed on three years ago. Until you get your situation settled, you can stay with me. It's good to know that you are still goin' Sahara, we were worried as to f you would ever make it back. Seems we needn't have worried huh." I shot Mark a smile and readjusted my hold on Elise.
She held on tightly to me even in sleep but I wanted her to be comfortable. She was constantly scared and wasn't talking. She was what was commonly called selectively mute. She was too afraid to talk and we often talked in sign-language.
If there was one thing the science bastards made sure of was our ability to understand orders in any form. We also all got really good at reading maps, which was the only reason Elise and I had even escaped in the first place.
We stayed at Mark's place while I had my genetics tested against my parents. When it was an exact match their wills were read and I inherited everything. I learned very quickly that I was not from a poor family at all. However, my family home was being rented out, and with Elise and I not wanting to be there longer than we needed to be so we wouldn't impose we went house hunting in an area not to far out, just an hour or two. We found an old style home and got to renovating it. Elise held up the stuff and I finished it, be that nailing boards to the wall or screwing in the walls in. We were finished within two days and ready to move in within minutes of the third.
With the money that had been left for me, I bought everything from furniture to the pair of shoes that Elise thought were cute. We managed pretty well despite the fact neither of us had any idea of what we were doing. Luckily Mark realized that there was a problem, signed us up for school and soon enough we had been in Forks for a month and out of the science bastards hands for 3. It was nice not having to look over our shoulders every second of every day and to just relax.
That was until we met the kids from the Res and the Cullens.
