Just getting back into writing again, really quick one shot. I would love if you could tell me if you like it or not because I'm honestly not sure of myself right now. Thank you for reading lovelies!
It was long after her friends and family had retreated home that Klaus finally visited the girl's cold grave. He didn't really understand what had gone through her head that night, and for some reason, regardless of the fact her death was something she had decided on, he felt some regret for the situation. He didn't feel bad for what happened exactly, because why should he? Caroline was a means to an end, caught it the crossfire, a warning. That was it. He had fully intended to heal her after Tyler followed through on his duty.
Maybe that was what he didn't understand. For someone who had been involved and surrounded by cold blooded killing most of his un-dead life, he could not recall many vampires directly choosing to end their life. Most decided to turn off their humanity to save themselves the torment of feeling for what they are, for what they had done. The curse upon the creatures of the night was something one could grow accustomed to, something which could bring about opportunity and prosperity if they truly desired. But he could not make the decision for her; if the girl wanted to die then he would let her; she was of no use to him anymore. Those who did not consist of his family meant nothing to him personally; at least that's what he told himself.
Love is a vampire's greatest weakness, and we are not weak, Elijah. We do not feel, and we do not care. He had once said. Not taking it back for a second, Klaus kept his opinion on the matter, standing over the girl's body. He didn't love Caroline anyway, as he did not love anyone. Casting all thoughts and the heavy weigh on his chest aside, Klaus stood and left without a glance behind, questioning why he felt drawn to visit in the first place.
fin.
