Gamzee glared at the computer. It was perfect. He had been looking for a good guitar for a while, as his own was old and the tone was horrible. The guitar on the screen was in perfect condition. It was a glistening black with streaks or neon green slime. It was perfect. The only problem was that it cost $300. He had been trying to save his money but he only had $65. It was a start but he somehow needed over 200 more dollars.
Slouching, he ran a bronze hand through curly black hair. 'Maybe Karkat will have an idea.' The blue chair moved slightly as he stood up. Grabbing his favorite purple clown jacket, he exited his room and was almost to the door when Kurloz stopped him.
'Where are you going?' Kurloz signed quickly.
"Just going out to see Karkat."
'Fine. Just be home by dinner as Dad will be there.'
Smiling lazily," Of course."
Karkat's house was only a block away. Gamzee walked slower than he normally did, the heat making him feel sluggish. The sky was a bright blue, not a cloud in sight. The sun was bright and there was no wind. Lost in thought, he reached Karkat's house. The house was a bright red. Odd, and rather eye-searing, but the Vantas's could be quite odd so it fit. The grass around was brown from the heat and no rain. Gamzee knocked on the door.
The door opened and serendipitously it was Karkat. Karkat's fiery red hair was messy and his eyes were tired. "Hi Karkat!"
"I can not deal with this level of cheerfulness this early. Do you have anything sugary?" His tone was cranky and also implied that if there was no sugar, blood would be shed.
"It's noon. That's not very early. I have sugar." Gamzee pulled out a snickers and handed it to Karkat.
"It's summer and there is no school. It is early."
It was quiet except for crinkles as Karkat ate the snickers. Gamzee was wisely quiet as Karkat had his fix of sugar. Karkat looked less cranky as he asked,"I thought as it was summer you would still be shut in your room watching your insane clown videos. It is nice to see you,
but why the heck are you here?"
"I found the perfect guitar but I need more money to buy and I was wondering if my wonderful bro would help me earn money for it?" This was said very quickly.
"I guess I could help as long as I get a share of the money. What were you planning?"
Gamzee told his plan to Karkat, who slowly began to grin as he heard his plan. The rest of the day went by quickly. First they ironed out their plan, making sure it would work. Once that was done, they went and got permission to do their idea. They finished up the day by making flyers and distributing those all over the neighborhood. Gamzee ran home at six to have dinner and to practice before tomorrow.
There was a great turn out the next day. It cost a dollar go. Karkat made chocolate chip cookies to hand out while people watched Gamzee to do his tricks. He was into gymnastics and was able to do amazing things with this previous knowledge. Doing backflips and handsprings all over, people loved him. Then he showed just how funny he could be, cracking jokes and being a clown. Karkat helped by getting people there, making it so there was a place to do it, and handling the money.
They continued the shows over the next few weeks. After a little more than a month, Gamzee had just enough money to buy a new guitar, with Karkat getting a share of the money.
