Daddy's Day

Ron opened a fraction of one of his eyes to see Hermione guiding a five year old Rose and three year old Hugo to the bed. Rose was positively beaming with excitement and before Hermione could even stop her, she had jumped on the bed and poked her dad in the chest.

"Wake up, Daddy!" Ron gave the pretense of bleary eyed vision and yawned for an added effect.

"Rosie? What are you doing up so early?" He tugged on one of her pigtails.

"It's noon, Daddy!" Rose giggled.

"Is it now? Why wasn't I woken up earlier?"

"Mummy said to let you sleep." Rose giggled again and pulled Hugo onto the bed. She took a picture from his hands and presented it to Ron.

"Happy Daddy's day, Daddy!" Rose was particularly proud of the drawing of their cat. She had made him sit still until she had finished drawing. The cat wasn't happy and made an effort to ignore Rose for the rest of the week. Hugo gave his dad a thumbs up and settled down into the blankets for a nap. He may be three years old, but the kid really loved his sleep.

"Thanks," Ron smiled and looked up at Hermione. "What've you got there, love?" Hermione rolled her eyes.

"Lunch, they helped me."

"Mummy let me beat the eggs, Daddy!" Rose shouted happily, she showed off in any way she could, and was definitely Hermione's daughter.

"Yes, she did." Hermione settled the tray of food atop of Ron's knees before sitting down next to him. Ron grinned and dug into his food. This was just what he had always wished for, a family.
