After the defeat of the Saderean Empire by JSDF military forces, the Republic of Alnus Hill becomes the strongest power throughout the know world of the Special Region.
With the lack of JSDF troops stationed in Japan to both handle the job of defending the country and defending Alnus, North Korea begins to make demands to the United Nations for its own benefit.
As expected the United Nations refuses, North Korea launches a surprise attack across the DMZ against the South. The United States and South Korea suffer some heavy losses as both American and Korean military installations were targeted.
The United States, Japan, and South Korea all agree to unify together to fight against the North Korean forces. As anticipated by the North Korean high command. They then begin to launch artillery barrages on South Korean cities displacing millions of innocent people.
The UN Responds by providing a coalition of troops to help aid the three powers who establish a defensive perimeter just north of Seoul. North Korean troops advance close to Seoul, but the element of surprise wears off and with their outdated military technology, the North is defeated at a decisive battle.
The United Nations troops advance north across the DMZ to Pyongyang capturing North Korean territory all the way to the city in less than a month.
North Korea asks China and Russia for help, both of them refusing to get involved in a fight against the UN. As a last ditch effort North Korea launches six nuclear missiles from their territory. One to target seoul, one to target Tokyo, one to target Honolulu, Seattle, Los Angeles, and Anchorage. Four of them were shot down while the last two that were headed to Los Angeles and Anchorage ran out of fuel and landed without exploding in the Pacific Ocean.
After a long and brutal siege, the North Korean army surreders, and North Korea is annexed by the South.
With the threat of nuclear war averted, the world now becomes slightly more peaceful. That is, until a second Gate opens in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The United States and their NATO allies now have access to the Special Region.
But Russia and China both want access to the region too. And will stop at nothing to achieve their goals.
The stage is set for a new story. Gate Thus the NATO Alliance fought!

[TV News reporter] "We have reports that our allied forces have recently taken the North Korean capital of Pyongyang. Multiple American, Japanese, and South Korean delegates have appealed to the UN Security Council for the North Korean territory to be annexed by the South Korean government. A resounding conclusion to the 2nd Korean War-"
"Man, I wish I was there to see it. I would've given Missile man a run for his money you know," Flint said running a hand over his neatly shaven head.
"I'm sure you would have…" Hezekiah finished the rest of his meal of steak with rice. Simple but delicious.
"What? You don't believe me? I would've waltzed right into Kim's house, and given him the middle finger, right there! No lie!"
"Of course, you would," Hezekiah said with that bit of sarcasm in his voice.
"You're just a hater. You know that?"
"And You need to pay your half of the rent money!"
"The rent isn't due until the First!"
"Today is the First!"
Flint looked surprised, "Impossible. It was just Valentine's day yesterday!"
"Valentine's day was two weeks ago!"
"This month went by fast!"
"I hope your paycheck didn't go by as fast! I'm not covering your ass like I did last month," Hezekiah looked at the golden-haired man who had a bit of a beard forming at the chin. The blue-eyed man looked back at him.
"Come on, you're a man just like me! I have needs just like you!"
"I don't consider being a regular patron at a gentlemen's club as a need."
"So maybe our needs are a little different, so what?"
"You're off the chain man, really," Hezekiah said with Flint giving him about 150 Dollars.
Flint returned to the sofa, the two always butted heads at their rent situation. The two roommates butted heads a lot, maybe it was just the city. The two were opposites, Hezekiah was more of a neat quiet and reserved man. He was always a true gentleman, polite, calm, and seemed to attract all kinds of people around him. Especially, and to Flint's dismay, girls.
And not even the scrawny chicks that hang out by the library either, but real pretty gals too. And what made the situation even worst was that Hezekiah just seemed to brush them off, settling for a weird geek that always goes to comic book festivals and the like.
Flint on the other hand was the exact opposite, he was loud, proud, and was a man who followed the crowd. He loved to party, turning it up at every chance available. It there was an event, he was either hosting it or partaking in it. Drinking was a good activity for him, but so too was eating. But his favorite pastime was chasing after any lady that caught his eye.
Flint and Hezekiah hated each other but needed each other all the same. For their own reasons, they were close friends. And besides the fact that they both payed half the rent money (Rent in Brooklyn Heights was insane, especially for Brooklyn as a whole) they both knew a lot of each other's deepest and darkest secrets, more so Hezekiah knew of Flints than vice-versa, but Hezekiah wasn't one to gossip much anyway.
They both understood each other. Even if they were so different. It was especially annoying to have Hezekiah's girlfriend, Cali, come over. Only to have Flint ridicule how flat chested she looked and how nerdy she was.
Cali and Hezekiah met one day at a coffee shop, not long after the two graduated from university life. Both were young, kind of nerds, and loved to just talk about stuff. The two met every day whenever, and whenever possible, donut shops, libraries, parks, even just talking on the subway (which might have caused a few raised eyebrows from their fellow commuters. They stopped talking about more controversial stuff in public after a conversation between them led to them having to flee a subway car when a homeless man with differing opinions added his own two cents).
Then it wasn't long before the two started dating, they were perfect for each other.
Rrrriiiiinnnng!-Rrrrriiiiinnnng!-Riiiiiinnnnng-!
Hezekiah's phone. The caller ID displayed none other than Cali herself.
"Hi, Cali!"
"Hezekiah! Have you seen the news today?"
"What about North Korea? Yeah, me and Flint were just talking about that-"
"No not that, did you hear that a new gate opened? Right here in the United States?"
"Huh? No, I haven't."
"Look on the news."
Flint had the television turned to some mind-numbingly stupid show about people hitting each other in the nuts. It wasn't even funny, just really, really, dumb.
"Ow, my balls!" said one of the people in the show after getting hit in the special region with a brick.
Hezekiah picked up the remote and flipped it to the News station, Flint immediately disapproved, "Come on man, can't you see I was watching 'Ow My Balls'?"
"Dude, its just for a quick second."
"Come on man, what the fuck! You know that this is the only time the show comes on!"
Hezekiah ignored him and flipped the channel, Flint resigned sighing throwing his hands up.
The TV channel changed to a picture of a big circular gate. It looked kind of like a portal, and it was. It had finally landed once again. And out of all the 50 states that it landed in, it landed in what was the most likely spot of them all.
Florida.
Goddammit Florida, with the weird shit! The only things that really go on over there are alligators, rednecks, zombies, and crackheads, mixed in with the occasional weird story or two. Would make sense that the gate appeared over there.
"Florida strikes again," Said Hezekiah into the phone, making Cali laugh out loud.
"Couldn't say I didn't see that coming!"
"Yup, indeed. So that makes two, right?"
"What do you mean?"
"well there's one gate in Tokyo, and this one is in Fort Lauderdale."
"Yup, but I'm worried."
Cali wasn't usually the type to worry a lot. This seemed strange that she would worry about this.
"Why?"
"Well you're Military! Staff Sergeant Hezekiah Brooks! What if they send you over there?"
"They might they might not. What can I say? It might be nice. Besides its better than being stuck in the middle of Afghanistan for five months. How bad could it be."
"You say that. Just- if they do send you over there- be safe. Promise?"
"Alright, Cali, I'll be safe-"
"Promise?!"
"I promise!"
"Thank you, see you later I guess…"
"Goodnight Cali."
"You still dating that flat chick?"
"Shut up. Meathead."
And so, it was.
