I don't own Mako Mermaids. This is set in episode 5, before Rita goes off to work. It is a one-shot story.
Nixie, Sirena and Lyla walked into Rita's house when Poseidon walked up to them and started licking Sirena's legs. "Poseidon stop it. It tickles." Sirena giggled. "What's that smell?" Rita muttered as she walked into her living room. Then she saw the three mermaids trying to get Poseidon away from them. "What's going on here?" She asked. "Poseidon won't stop licking Sirena." Lyla explained when Sirena transformed and fell over. "I think I know why." Rita said to the girls. "You three smell like the ocean. So I suggest taking a bath." "What's a bath?" Nixie asked. "C'mon. I'll show you." Rita said to them and she took them upstairs to the bathroom.
"This is a bathtub." she said to them. "And what is it supposed to do?" Lyla asked skeptical. "It is supposed to make you clean." Rita answered and she turned it on. "Water!" Sirena yells surprised. "Jep. Who wants to go first?" Rita asked the three mermaids. "C'mon. You three need it." Rita said, a little bit annoyed. "You three want to look like land people, so you need to smell like them to." "I think Nixie wants to go first." Sirena then said. "Yes, I think so to. You were the one that knows everything about them, don't you Nix?" Lyla said to her. "Okay, I'll go into that stupid bath." Nixie said and she sat into it. After a few seconds, her tail appeared. "First you need to shampoo your hair." Rita explained and she handed Nixie the bottle. "Just a little bit and don't get it into your eyes. It can sting." Lyla and Sirena watched full of amazing how Rita got Nixie to wash herself. She even showed them how to shave to armpits. After Nixie was done, Rita let the water out of the bathtub and the group helped to get Nixie dry. When she got dry, Rita let her shave her legs. "I smell like oranges." Nixie complained. "Yes, but that's good. Land people uses this every day to smell like this." Rita said to her. "Who's next?" She asks as she turns around to the other girls.
Sirena was the next one, because she liked oranges and didn't mind smelling like them. Rita left them alone to answer the phone when Sirena got soap into her eyes. "Ouch!" She yelled as it stings. Rita got back up and saw what had happened. She made Sirena opening her eyes under the shower and she got the soap out of it. "Thank you so much Rita." Sirena said crying to her. "Don't worry, it's over now." The rest of the bathing time of Sirena went well and even the shaving did go good.
"It's your turn Lyla." Rita said to the last mermaid. "No way. I don't mind smelling like the ocean, I like it better then oranges." "C'mon Lyla. Sirena and I got our turn already. You must do this." Nixie said to her. "Please Lyla. This way, we can blend better in with the land people and take away Zac's power. Don't you want the pod back?" Sirena begged her. "All right, I go." Lyla sighed and she stepped into the bathtub. "But don't think I like it." "You sort of have to get used to this Lyla, you three need to shower every day." Rita said to her. "Do we need to do everything of this?" Sirena asked. "No, the shaving have and the washing of your hair need to be once a week. But the showering must be every day." "Oh no." Lyla sighed as she started washing. Rita looked up her watch and said: "Will you please hurry up a little bit Lyla. I need to go to school in half an hour."
