I've been caught up with RL stuff happening so I haven't been able to really get much writing done, or the muse buggered off! This came to me today as my daughter made a massive mess making cookies!

I hope to have another chapter of Interrupting the McCords up in the next few days! It's written and with the beta to fix!

Elizabeth McCord stood in the kitchen, her eyes huge as she stared at the mess in front of her. Bowls and pans were all over the place. She could see flour and sugar all over the counters and on the floor. The fridge was open, milk sitting on the side next to it with the lid missing. A tray of cookies sat on the cooling rack. She dropped the bag she was holding and ran a hand through her hair, closing her eyes and counting to ten. There were three people in this household that she knew who could do this to a kitchen.

Henry.

Stephanie.

Alison.

Or perhaps all three for that matter.

She stood there, listening, trying to gauge where about in the house her family were. Then she heard them, a giggle coming from the laundry room. She could hear her husband whispering words to their young children.

As she opened the door, she was startled to see her two daughters, naked and covered in flour from head to toe. Her husband was standing in his boxers, putting their clothes into the washer.

Alison turned around a little and noticed her mother standing in the doorway. "Mama," she shouted with glee and ran over to her, squealing as her father picked her up to stop her from pummeling into her.

"We made you birthday cookies, Mommy!" Stevie squealed out.

"That I can see, Stevie," she tried to hide her grin as she spotted the sheepish look on her husband's face. "You guys made quite a mess in there." She pointed towards the kitchen, as she moved further into the room, leaning against the side and rubbing her swollen belly as the baby kicked.

"But mommy, we had fun," Stevie mumbled, as she latched herself to her father's leg after he put Alison down, thinking her mother was mad.

"Yeah, mama, fun," Alison repeated, flinging her hands up in the air.

"And daddy said we could make a mess," Stevie blurted out, grinning.

Elizabeth grinned and turned to her husband, "Did he now?"

Stevie nodded, and Alison copied her, as Henry busied himself with turning the machine on.

"Well I think that daddy needs to go out and clean that mess up, while I get you guys dressed. And then we will see if daddy gets one of mommies' birthday cookies." She laughed as both her daughter's heads bobbed up and down as they left the laundry room.

"Hey now, that's not fair. You just got back home earlier than expected Babe." Henry tried to fight his corner as he moved towards his wife, pressing his hand to the swell of her stomach and pressing a kiss to her lips.

Elizabeth shrugged, "Conrad let me leave early. Happy birthday to me I suppose."

"The girls wanted to make you a cake, I thought cookies were a better idea. But alas, the mess was inevitable either way." He paused and ran his fingers over her face, "I'll get the kitchen cleaned up, and the cookies ready, and then we can have a movie night."

"Sounds good to me."

Just a little drabble to hopefully put a smile on your faces!
