Breakdown
Chapter one: The Accident
The water fell slowly down Helga's body, splashing the cold water against her face, feeling very much excitement for the future she wants to share with Arnold, but she looks up to herself now, thinking what she thinks will go right. But she has to know she can't get what she really wants.
This all began in the summer before she was going to start high school, she stands in her room brushing her hair softly, then putting to one single braid. Then, she takes her skirt and ties around her slim body. Then, she walks down the stairs to the kitchen to get something to eat. As always, she finds her mother asleep on the couch with a loud snore.
"Mommy?" Helga whispers, trying not to scare her mother.
No answer, she takes her white coat and walks out the door and heads for school. She sees her friends and Arnold, which she pays more attention too.
"Hey everyone, hey Arnold." Helga said.
The gang waves to her. Then Rhonda walks by looking at Helga's style of clothing.
"Nice style Helga, I approve."
Helga gave Rhonda a smile, but then turns back to the gang.
"Arnold, you doing anything after school?" Helga asked.
"Yes, I have some plans. Sorry Helga."
"That's okay." Helga says as she flirts with Arnold.
For the past few years she and Arnold has built a strong friendship together. Helga hasn't revealed her secret yet, but she plans to reveal it to Arnold when the time is right.
After school, she walks home and goes to take a shower. Then after she showers, she listens to love songs on the radio. She lies down on her bed, fantazing about Arnold. She wants to open up her secret to him so bad, and also wants to kiss him. But she has to wait to make the move. As she was lying down around dinnertime, she heard a loud scream. She rushed down the stairs and out the door.
"Phoebe!" She screamed, as she held her best friend in her arms.
Phoebe turns to Helga.
"Helga, I've been hit by a car....I don't think I'll....make it.....do me a favor...tell Gerald I...love..."
Before Helga knew it Phoebe was gone. Helga screams and cries her name over and over. A day later, she goes to school. She walks the hallway sobbing softly. Arnold rushes up to her and looks at her with concern.
"I'm sorry Helga. I'm so sorry."
Arnold held her in his arms, waiting for Helga to calm down. Helga was sent home later that morning to go to the awake. She cried so many times as they say her name. A couple of hours later, Helga goes to Arnold's house.
"Come on in Helga." Arnold smiles.
"Thanks."
Arnold and Helga sit on the bed and talk for a while. Then he sees her in tears.
"Helga, please don't cry. I'm here for you."
Helga breaks down for several moments, then looks into Arnold's eyes.
"Thanks Arnold. This means a lot to me."
Arnold wipes away her tears Helga leans in and brushes against his lips. But Arnold slowly moves away.
"Arnold please, kiss me." Helga says as she tries to kiss him.
Arnold has a second thought, he knows she needs him right now. So he goes along with the kiss then moves her to a lying down position and begins to make out. Helga looks at him, having a thumb touch his cheek....
"I love you Arnold,"
Arnold is shocked, but smiles.
"I love you too Helga."
