"What are you doing Kate?"
Her mind repeatedly asked her that question as she drove to her fathers house from New York. She had told herself that no matter what happened she would never bring Caroline to Beacon Hills. She would sooner die then do something that stupid, especially now that Derek had returned. All it would take was one look into the little girls eyes and some math to discover the truth about her daughter.
The ride to her fathers was six hours long, and she had made it in five. The second he had started talking about Caroline showing signs of being a werewolf she had jumped in her car and swooped in knowing she needed to get her daughter out of there now. Kate and Gerard had argued back and forth for hours, watching Caroline play through the glass door. Every now and then she would turn and look for her mother's approval, and Kate would smile at her to let her know she was doing something wonderfully. The night after her father had fallen asleep she packed Caroline's bags and loaded them into her SUV. She carefully carried her sleeping daughter to the car, buckled her seat belt and then left before she could change her mind.
Things hadn't changed much since the last time she had been in Beacon Hills but there was a few things. For one her brother and his family were now here. That wasn't something that was apart of her plan but she didn't say anything in regards to it. Thoughts of the fire still plaguing her mind. Another change was the child that she had. Caroline wasn't in her plans by any means but she couldn't imagine her life any different. Not for one moment would she want it different either.
It was now three am as she pulled into her brother's house. She laid her head back a moment, looking through the rear view mirror at the sleeping seven year old in the back seat. He arms held on to her favorite stuffed animal so tightly as though it was going to disappear as she let go. Kate couldn't help but smile because a part of that had wanted to do that to her for so many years. Turning off the car she got up and swooped her sleeping daughter into her arms, carrying her into the guest bedroom.
Wrapping the blanket around her Kate sat on the edge of the bed for what felt like hours. Just sitting and staring at the sleeping child, after a moment she closed her eyes and looked up, "Please let me know I'm doing the right thing." She said aloud looking up. She opened her eyes and glanced around for a sign.
The smile that appeared on Caroline's sleeping face was enough for Kate.

Here's your intro to the story. I can't wait to see where this takes us. I'll go into Kate's past and what she has been doing all these years. Along with some of Caroline's perspective. Wish me luck? :3
