Awake
Bo was making Nora breakfast in bed. The last few months had been hell on her. Nora had been devastated when Matthew didn't wake up. She had carried the hope that her little boy would come home, but the days turned into weeks which turned into months and every day Bo saw the hope in her eyes die until there was nothing left.
She had tried to remain strong and resilient, but Bo knew that her heart was broken and he felt so frustrated because there wasn't anything he could do to take away her pain. Little Drew, had helped heal the wound in Nora's heart. Thank God, Destiny had decided to keep the baby. It seemed like she was all they had left of Matt.
Bo was hurting too. He had already lost one child and in some ways, Matthew's coma was worse on him then Drew's death. Drew's death was tragic and it had tore a piece out of his heart that he would never get back, but at least with Drew, there was closure, there was the knowledge that he wasn't coming back. With Matthew, there was no way of knowing if he would wake up or stay asleep. It was the constant waiting, knowing that there was nothing that they could do that was killing both him and Nora a little more every day.
Today was Nora's birthday, and all Bo wanted was to bring a smile to her face. He placed the bacon and pancakes on the plate and brought it into their bedroom.
"Happy birthday Red," Bo whispered in Nora's ear.
"Hey cowboy. I was just dreaming about you."
"Oh yeah, something good I hope."
"It was fantastic, I'll show you," Nora said as she pulled him into a kiss.
"I made you breakfast," Bo said as the kiss ended.
"You're fantastic, you know that, but right now all I want for my birthday is for you to make love to me. I was thinking that we could start trying for that little girl we've always wanted."
"Are you sure? I thought that you wanted to wait until Matthew wakes up."
"I'm sure. I love you but let's face it Bo, Matthew, may never wake up. He's been in a coma for a year now and I will always pray that he comes back to us, but I can't put my life on hold any longer. We need to move on with our lives and I can't think of anything I want more than a baby girl."
"I love you Red."
"I love you too Cowboy. Now, make love to me."
"Yes Mam," Bo said as he passionately kissed Nora again. He gently caressed her body as his excitement and passion grew. He loved her more everyday. She was his heart, she was his everything, and he planned on taking his time showing her how much she was loved.
Nora moaned with ecstasy as his body and her body became one. He loved the way she felt, and the way that her perfume lingered on his skin. He loved everything about her. They enjoyed the highs of their union until they exploded together in ecstasy.
Nora laid her head on Bo's chest as they fed each other her cold breakfast. Bo's phone rang and little Drew started to cry. " You get the phone and I'll get our grandson," Nora said as she put on a bathrobe.
She came back into the room and Bo was practically jumping up and down with excitement. "Get Drew ready, I'll call Destiny."
"Destiny?" What's going on Cowboy?"
"It happened Nora. We got our miracle. Matthew's awake."
Nora started to cry. She was so happy, their hell had finally ended. Matthew was awake and she couldn't dream of having a better birthday gift.
