A/N: I don't know what this is. I swear I get more confused with each passing episode. I just kind of wrote all the dialogue mishmashed together into one story, just to confuse all of you even more. Basically this is one big question mark.
Spoilers: For episode 3x10 ...And the Woman Clothed in Sun.
Disclaimer: I own my own confusion over Hannibal, but I'm not confused, I know I don't own the rights to Hannibal. Did that sound confusing?
When do we lose our innocence? When we let the devil swallow us? When we give in to our primal instincts? Let the beast lose, and let it feast on our soul. How much are we supposed to let him devour? Can he take too much? Deprive us of our humanity? Make us into monsters.
Maybe we settle for being monster adjacent. Being the bride of Frankenstein is much safer. Creates less scars. But at what price? You can be yourself, yes. And no matter how twisted you are you'll be veiled by the one beside you. You need no armour for protection, the smoke and mirrors will be enough. You pick up a thing or two; learn how to bend the truth and the lies to your advantage.
Are you participating in the harming of others, or do you still care enough? Have enough compassion left in you to be a morally acceptable member of society? How much is his doing, and how much is your own? Can we really blame an entity, or anyone, anything, for our own fall into darkness? Do we construct our own reality or is it bestowed upon us? Are we really only just the sum of our experiences? Equipped by evolution to be who we are. Good, bad or in between.
How often does the devil call on you? Passionately tempting. Lying, obfuscating to let us lose our objectivity. Will you ever learn your lesson? We cling to our naiveté; more so on holidays and birthdays, when tradition dictates our lives and we get to eat our favourite dishes. Those days we pretend we've seen enough of him. That this irresistible attention of his doesn't in fact undermine our ability to think clear, concise, and rational thoughts.
It's a natural instinct; wanting to help a wounded bird, but wanting to crush it, to destroy it, is just as natural. It can't be treated, even covertly. We do it so we won't have to be reminded of our own weakness. Nurturing only goes so far. Doing harm lies just as deep within us. Our true nature is a mystery, filled with secrets.., profoundly so. That if known by others, would suffer disapproval. You think evil is just that, evil, but extreme acts of cruelty very often require a high level of empathy. Once you know this to be true. Do you feel your lack of insight has blinded you? Or have the blindness in reality saved you from trouble? Shielded you in unguarded moments.
When your wardrobe starts to reflect your true nature and the pastel whites turns into darker shades. Are you ready then? When he comes knocking, do you let him in? Or do you let him make an appointment?
A/N: You don't have to tell me that this makes no sense, even I don't understand it.
