Misunderstood

As I walked through the sand-covered streets of the village, the wind blowing my white hair around in no particular direction, I remembered of my trip to the village of Konoha. That was where my life had started- you could say. Before that, I had been a lone wonderer- a little girl who had no friends, no one to go home to, no one to live for. That all changed though, when I was in the Leaf village- and I met Uzamaki Naruto. Naruto had changed my perspective on life- he had shown me a reason to live.

{Flashback}

"You don't understand! No one understands how I feel!" I exclaimed.

"I do- I understand the loneliness you feel!" the blonde from the Leaf village shouted back at me.

"How could you even begin to understand?!"

"Because we're one of the same," he said, starting to calm down. He raised the hem of his shirt- and showed me the bottom half of his stomach. There, around his belly button was a pinwheel, continuous circle.

"I'm Kyuubi." Wide-eyed, I stared at him. Never before had I thought of the others that might be out there- that had to deal with the same hardships I had to face. Now, I was being forced to come to this realization.

"Kyuubi…" I said slowly, softly to myself.

"You're not alone, believe me," the blonde said. I looked at him in slight awe.

"How can you be so sure?" I asked," I've been alone my whole life- never fitting in anywhere I go…" He walked up to me, and held out his hand.

"Your not alone anymore," he said," You've now got friends." I looked from his outstretched hand- back to his face- and back again. Finally, after a couple silent minutes, I accepted his hand.

"Im Uzamaki Naruto," he said, introducing himself," The next Hokage of the Hidden Leaf."

"Hanako Asari of the Sand," I said, introducing myself," Gobi no Houkou."

"It's nice to meet you Asari-chan," Naruto smiled, and I couldn't help but smile back.

{End Flashback}

After that, I had realized how much I had missed. Not having any friends, always keeping to myself, not bothering to even try to have a normal life. Naruto had changed my life- made it better. Thanks to him, I was able to come out of the invisible shell I had around me and my heart. He introduced me to a whole new world, a new concept, a new meaning of the word friends. Thanks to him- I now had a brighter more happy reason to wake up each morning. As I walked through the streets, I looked up at the sky and smiled.

"Asari." I dropped my attention from the sky to beside me, and saw Gaara standing a few feet from me.

"Gaara-kun," I said, smiling, dipping my head respectively to the Kage.

"Ready?" Gaara asked me.

"Hai." I nodded.

"Alright- head out then," he said, and out of nowhere, Kankuro and Temari appeared. Nodding, Temari and I headed out toward the Hidden Leaf- where we were to prepare for the Chunnin Exams. Before we were out of sight, I looked back at Gaara, and smiled. He smiled back, slightly- but it was still a smile. I had tons of things to thank Naruto for- and one of them, was awakening me to the realization I wasn't the only one in my village with a demon in them. After Gaara and I found out this small piece of information on each other- we had become closer- and we've never been alone since. The times of being misunderstood are long gone.
