Rachel's POV

So there she was. Mr. Schue had brought her in. She was a freshman named Hayley Camaro. She had just transferred to McKinley High the week before. I had seen her in the hallway all week, but I didn't pay her any mind. Now, there was no way to ignore her. She was only about five feet tall with jet black hair and jade green eyes. All her features made her look doll-like. She looked too perfect to be real. Well I thought to myself smugly I bet she can't sing like me.

I was wrong.

Mr. Schue played her a few bars on the piano before she came in, singing- with amazing power and tone- Come to Your Senses from the musical Tick, Tick… Boom! There was no way that a voice like that came out of a girl so tiny, and yet there was living proof standing right in front of me.

Hayley's POV

When I transferred to McKinley High School, my intent was to lay low and avoid attention until I was fully established. Yeah, that got me very far.

Really, I hadn't intended for Mr. Schuester to hear me singing, but my choir director had to hear me sing to place me in a voice part. It was purely coincidence that Mr. Schue was walking by at the time and decided that I had to join the glee club. And I really couldn't refuse when he asked me. He looked like he really needed more people to join.

So, Wednesday after school, I stood shyly in front of the entire group. Some of them looked nice enough, but some looked like they hated me already. I knew a few faces by now. I had heard that Rachel was pretty much the face of glee club, so I wanted to make a good impression. Maybe she'd help me cope with the humiliation I knew was ahead for me.

Yeah, that didn't work out so well either. When I finished singing, she just frowned and furrowed her brow.

I think she hates me.

Kurt's POV

Alright, my first impression of the Hayley girl? That she was just a freshman transfer student trying to fit in. Then I heard her sing. Holy cow, did that girl have a set of lungs. And they were so unexpected from a girl her size. I could tell from Rachel's expression while she was singing that she already hated her. This made her much more amazing in my book. Plus, she sang a little known song from a little known musical.

I think she and I will get along just fine.

Will's POV

After hearing Hayley sing for the first time, I knew she would be a fantastic asset to New Directions. At first, she seemed a little skeptical when I asked her about it, but she did agree to check it out. I really did think the first one to take to her would be Rachel, but the diva did not seem happy that there was a new girl in the spotlight. Kurt looked like he was intrigued by her, which was reassuring. Artie and Tina both looked like they would be kind to her too, but they were kind to everyone. Finn and Puck seemed to alright with her, or at least willing to give her a shot. Quinn just smiled sweetly Hayley's entire piece, but the other Cheerios simply stared with blank expressions (to be honest, not that different from any other time, but that's not the point and I'd never say that aloud). Mercedes was… well, Mercedes. She didn't look thrilled about the new girl, but no one seemed more opposed to her than Rachel.

I hope I did the right thing here.

Author's Note: Well, I hope you guys enjoyed my first chapter of my first Glee-fic. I really enjoyed writing this because I've had a similar experience to Hayley. More reviews= faster updates, so hit that little green button and tell me what you think so far.
