"This is the 2014 Sochi Russia Winter Olympics!" The announcer said very enthusiastically through his microphone.
"This is Richard Eccles reporting to you from where the opening ceremony will be held tonight! At home in Canada I know everyone is probably just waking up but here in Sochi the Opening Ceremony will be underway soon."
Canada was super nervous, and pumped. He was in the Nations Lounge with his brother America, his dad England or Great Britain in the games, and his père France, but also Germany. Matthew felt the nervousness of his fellow Canadians and the adrenaline racing from his athletes. All the Nations were suppose to walk out with their countries team. Alfred would not stop moving around on the couch beside Arthur and Matthew could tell it was wearing on his nervous. Canada didn't think that he was nervous or if he was nervous he didn't think that he was showing it, but it was evident to his family in the room that he was nervous by the amount of bouncing up and down that his knees did.
They were trying to avoid Russia because how one of his snowflakes had already had a malfunction, Canada's heart went out to Russia a bit because he knew what that was like from Vancouver. The Nations in the room were wearing their teams chosen outfits. Canada had his basic red, and white. America had in England's, and Frances (And Matthew, though he would never admit) opinion the ugliest jackets ever. It looked as if they had been trying to shove all of the 50 stars onto one ugly, woolen Christmas sweater. England had plain dark blue jackets and fur hat, and France looked very formal in his beige pants and grey coat. Then there was Germany. The man didn't even look fazed that he looked like a rainbow had exploded on a jacket, and snow pants. Canada had told Germany that he had liked his outfit though. He decided not to ask if it was protesting Russia's anti-gay laws or not. That might get them in trouble with Mr Russia.
Suddenly it was time for all the Nations to come out, first went Germany in his rainbow outfit, then England, then America, then France.
Before America had left though he had wished Canada good luck. Canada accepted his good luck and gave America his. They maybe competing against one another in the games, but they were still brothers.
Then came Canada's time. He took the flag from Hayley Wickenheiser, took a deep breath and got ready to march out onto the floor. As the Canada team came out, he literally felt in his bones the entirety of lifting to their feet and cheering loud and proud.
At that moment all of Canada's nervousness disappeared. As if it had never been there. He laughed and pumped his fist loud and proud walking into that stadium, because he knew. Knew it in the roots of his land. That he and his people were going to rock these Olympics, because they, they were from CANADA!
