PROLOGUE

Darkness merged with the world as it captured the soul of every being living there. The land had been tainted for centuries, drained by the bloodlust that once inhabited the nightmares within every soul that lived. It covered the walls of those that existed in its hellish grasp, painting it black like the souless eyes that wandered the shadows. Nothing could save the world, not a higher power nor a covenant of healers. It was Hell on earth and it was coming to kill those who had escaped. Fires of ash covered the once lush green grasses, drowning them in the blackened pools of nothing. How could such a vital world die by such fate, when those who fought tried their damnest to keep it alive.

This scene had been seen before; a horrifying reminder that life came in cycles. Human life could rejoin the living if it meant sacrificing the one thing that could keep it together. The abyss had come for them, trying to suck the bloodlust from those who fought to live. This was a different world, another time, and with that, a place in history bound to repeat itself. Oh how desperation could make a person want to change their place in time, to correct the past and mold the future. To rid itself of emptiness and restore it to peace. The lock away the dread in dead eyes and push those from the edge that meant to destroy what hope was left. It was then the cave trembled and shook; creating a wrinkle in time to take them from this hellish nightmare. It was that moment that life changed forever; consuming the hopes and fears of siblings of time's past, thrusting them into an inevitable world of pain and suffering much like their own.
