Life Can be a Trial
Ch. 1 "Coward"
The names Jinn. Jinn Khaar. I'm a soldier for the Hylian Army,and I've had a few strange occurrence happen to me. The oddest has to be the day that Castle Town, the largest town in Hyrule, and the capital of the kingdom, was abandoned and taken over by these demons that call themselves creatures. One of them, that looks like a walking corpse, and has a scream so blood-curdling that causes you to freeze on the spot. Once thats happened, they shamble on over and grasp onto your head and suck out your soul, or something like that, I don't know, its never happened to me.
But anyway, myself and the rest of the Guard were trying to evacuate all the civilians, before the creatures came. I was in charge of the last group of them, about 20 if I remember right. As I was getting to the central courtyard, I heard the sounds of a soul-chilling scream that I have grown to loathe. Every time I hear the scream, I feel as though I need to draw my sword and plunge it into my own heart, not just to end the pain in my ears, but also the pain in my heat from what happened all those years ago. But as I was getting to the courtyard, I saw the Guard trying to fight against an army of creatures, walking skeletons, giant blobs that ate anything that came too close, and leading the charge, huge knights, about 9 to 10 feet tall at least, in all black armor and carrying in one hand, a sword a Goron couldn't have lifted. The Guard was massacred where they stood. I suppose I should have charged in there, swinging my sword, as an effort to reclaim honor for my fallen brothers. But, I didn't. Instead, I took the cowards way, I rushed the civilians back into the safety of the houses.
I suppose people would call me a hero for saving those civilians lives and staying alive all this time, but deep inside, I know what I truly am.
A coward.
