Alex glanced up briefly as the other woman marched purposefully past her. Her attention was averted from her glass of Lugi's finest house wine, her mind still fixed on her conversation with DCI Keats. She would never have believed Gene to be capable of what Jim was insinuating but something was nagging at her brain and making her doubt the Gene Genie. SHe had responded with a defiance but Keats had not been convinced
Alex looked over at her DCI and the rest of her team.
Team: that was the word she had used, the word that defied Keats's views on her opinion of CID. The other woman walked straight up to Gene and after speaking to him briefly she had grasped Gene around the neck and pulled him towards her. Alex gasped inwardly as their lips locked together and held in the tears as his arm pulled the blonde haired bimbo towards him sweeping up her coat as it went. Her stomach leapt and turned over an infinite amount of times that she lost count. Shew as not even amused by Ray's obvious stare at the other womans rump. She smiled inwardly at the memory before remembering the scene before her.
Alex kept her head down and tried to avert her eyes from the scene before her.
He's drunk she told herself, the half empty bottle of wine in his free hand proved that. But the tears that threatened her were imminent. She steeled herself ready for the cascade that was building up inside her. He was still holding the blonde woman to him, fiercely. Alex could only imagine what it would be like to be that close to him, feel his passion, a passion only for her, her tummy jumped at the thought. Alex pondered momentarily whether it was to make her jealous or whether.....
She stopped herself from that thought as the other woman released her DCI and placed her number in his pocket. She said something to him in a flirtatious manner and then walked away, subtly swishing her hips as she went. Alex gave her a brief attempt at a smile before looking at him with sadness in her eyes. She returned her gaze to her drink and held back the flood with all her might.
