A.N Hi it's Christina! I hope you all like this story, I know Sakura's family aren't ninjas in the real story, but I wanted her mom to support her and help her develop into a strong ninja. So with all the support and guidance around her she's going to be confident and strong. And in this story the Uchiha Massacre isn't going to happen either because this is my story, and that's what I want. But if anyone has any suggestions to make this story better let me know! I'm opened to advice!
So everyone just sit back and enjoy reading!
Meant to Be
Prologue
Mikoto Uchiha and Mebuki Haruno have been best friends since the academy days, and their friendship just grew stronger throughout the years. They both trained hard to try to become capable of being a strong ninjas that weren't looked down upon by others, which they have both achieved. They were both currently Jonin, and went on mission from time to time. They were strong, and fast. They worked hard because they both had the dream of being strong independent ninjas, and they pushed each others to their limits and believed in one another when the other had doubts.
They both became friends with each other because they were both so carefree and full of life, they just were like a perfect harmony together. They finish each others sentences, and understood each other by giving each other just a simple look, and they both never lost their childish ways even as they got older and matured. They talked about everything with one another, from boy problems to trying to figure out how to do a certain jutsu. But mostly they trusted one another with everything even with their deepest darkest secrets, and they never judged each other. Others would do anything for the type of friendship they had.
Back in the years when they were still in the academy, you would find them practicing throwing kunais and shurikens at a tree to practice their aiming skills. Eventually they began practicing by seeing who could throw them to the farthest tree, always competing with one another, and cheering each other on.
When they were finally Genin placed in their own teams, they would still train with each other and work on their chakra control pushing each other to their very limit by seeing who could walk up the tree the fastest and farthest. And they would fight with one another and work on different strategies to win until they became too tired and they would declare that it was time to go out to eat and talk about what they could work on to improve. They were each others equals.
And they continued on training with one another to this day, getting better and stronger. But mostly smarter. They were both Jōnin now, and they were still as close as ever.
Mikoto was only nineteen when she got married to Fugaku Uchiha, who was slightly cold, but Mikoto loved him dearly none the less. He listened to her, and was always there to make her smile. He swore to protect her from any harm. She fell in love with his charms, and strength, as well as his gentle behavior towards her. They met one day when they had a mission together, they were only sixteen at the time, and once they got back to the village they continued talking. Talking turned into dating, which eventually led them to get married. They had a traditional grand wedding, and Mikoto wore a beautiful dress, and Mebuki braided Mikoto's hair that day, and she looked absolutely stunning. Many tears were shredded from both of the girls that day.
The following year Mebuki married Kizashi Haruno who was always joking around and making her laugh. She fell in love with his personality and politeness. He treated her like a lady. He was strong and reliable, he was everything she wanted. But there was one little problem. He didn't want kids, and she adored them. But he made her agree before they got married that they wouldn't have kids. Mebuki agreed because she loved him and didn't want to lose him.
At the age of twenty two Mikoto Uchiha and Fugaku Uchiha had their first son and Fugaku named him Itachi. Itachi meant the world to them; Mikito and Fugaku treasured him with all there heart.
"He's going to be a great ninja just like me when he's older." Fugaku raved to all his acquaintances when Itachi was born.
Fugaku was already planning on teaching his son the arts of being a Uchiha, of course when he was old enough. While Mikoto couldn't wait to spoil him and show him off to all her friends. Since the day that he was born the Uchiha's lives became full of brightness and laughter.
Now that Itachi was four and was used to seeing siblings playing with one another at the playground he began asking his mother if he would ever have a little brother or sister, like everyone else did. He wanted a sibling so he could protect them and play with them, since his father was always too busy with work to have time to play with him.
Current Time
Mikoto Uchiha was now currently eight months pregnant and getting closer and closer to her due date. She couldn't be anymore excited to get this little baby out of her! When she looked down, she couldn't even see her toes since her stomach was so big. The baby could come at any moment, and she was supposed to be on bed rest, but Mikoto did what she wanted and when she wanted to, even when everyone told her not to. No especially when someone told her she could not do something, she would feel the need to have to prove them wrong and show them she could. She was very stubborn at times and she proved that she wouldn't let anyone stop her from doing as she likes. Even if them telling her not to, may be for her best benefit. She didn't care. No way was she just going to sit in bed, doing nothing for the next few week. Nope no way will you ever see that happening.
Instead of resting like she was supposed to she was actually enjoying some precious time with her dearest best friend Mebuki Haruno; who had called over early this morning and came over shortly after she got ready to leave. Mikoto who had two cups of almost boiling hot tea in her hands, slowly made her way into her dinning room. Taking each step carefully not wanting to spill the tea. Mebuki was a few feet behind Mikoto as she followed her empty handed; since Mikoto wouldn't let her carry her own tea out.
"No, no. I'll carry it. You're my guest, don't you worry about it." Mikoto said as she swatted Mebuki's hand away from the tea that was first sitting on the kitchen counter and then she grabbed it, as well as her cup of tea and began walking into her dining room. She didn't want other people to help her just because she was pregnant. She could do things on her own. Mebuki just laughed and shaked her head and shrugged her shoulders. She wasn't going to waste time trying to convince Mikoto to let her help, if she did both of their tea would be cold before they got into the dining room.
Once they entered the dining room Mebuki flipped the light switch on, making all of the lights on the beautiful glass and gold chandelier turn on. The light that was given off by it, wasn't really needed though since it was a bright cloudless summer day, and all the clean and shiny glass windows in the dining room let all of the sunlight illuminate through.
Mikoto placed one of the teas in front of Mebuki and the other one where she was going to sit. They both sat down at Mikoto's long dark cherry wood dining room table sitting next to one another with tea in front of them. You could see the steam coming out of the coffee cup, since Mikoto had just brewed the Lemon and Ginger Tea on top of the stove in a tea kettle, that her mother had gotten for her a couple years back.
"The tea is ready, but don't drink it yet. Or you will end up burning your tongue!" Mikoto had warned Mebuki as she placed a cup of boiling hot tea in front of Mebuki's chair on the table, that she hadn't sat down at quite yet. Mebuki took her seat after Mikoto placed her cup of tea on the table next to Mebuki's tea, and then sat down. When Mikoto sat down she released a signed she didn't know she was holding in, when she realized just how much her body ached. A second after Mebuki sat down she began slowly stirring her tea after adding three spoonfuls of sugar.
"You're already tired Mikoto?" Mebuki teased her dear friend laughing softly, still stirring her tea; she didn't dare try to take a sip quite yet. As she stared at Mikoto she could see just how tired and drained Mikoto looked and she felt sorry for her, but that didn't mean she wasn't going to joke around with her. In response Mikoto glared at Mebuki jokingly and stuck her tongue out and laughed softly. In just a split of a second all of her exhaustion and fatigue that was shown before disappeared instantly and was replaced with excitement in remembrance that Mebuki was at her house not just to spend time with her, but because she had something important to tell her. Something she couldn't even tell over the phone.
"So what was so urgent that you had to come all the way over here, and couldn't even tell me over the phone, even though I begged you too?" Mikoto pried excitedly in her light and airy bubbly voice. Even her eyes lite up and were sparkling, and a huge smile was forming on her face as she grabbed the sugar spoon that Mebuki had just put back into the glass white sugar bowl. She put four large spoonfuls of sugar in; she liked her tea nice and sweet, and then stirred her tea waiting for it to cool down after adding the sugar into her tea.
Mikoto watched Mebuki close her eyes and her forehead crease and she even stopped stirring her tea and brought her two fingers to her forehead to massage her temples. Stress and worry and maybe even a little bit of fear was written all over Mebuki's face. And right then Mikoto got extremely worried herself.
Mikoto stared at Mebuki waiting for her to answer. Mikoto always loved listening to a little gossip. She would bend over backwards just to know all the details that are going on in everyone else's lives. But Mikoto's smile slowly faded into a frown when she noticed how stressed her best friend seemed. Mikoto bit her lip nervously. She continued to wait for Mebuki to speak up and tell her what was going on in that head of hers, but she never did. She waited and waited, but Mebuki continued not to say anything.
This wasn't normal, usually Mebuki would just tell Mikoto everything, without giving her a second to prepare herself and get ready. She would just let everything out, as simple as that. That was just how it has always been, since childhood. That's one of the reasons why they were so close. They knew everything about one another. Mebuki never held anything in like this. Mikoto knew this was really bad news, but she knew she needed to hear it. And she knew that Mebuki wanted to tell her, but she was just scared.
"Mebuki?" Mikoto asked concerned when a minute went by without Mebuki saying anything. Mebuki reopened her eyes when she heard Mikoto speak up once again, and frowned and bit her tongue, a nervous habit she picked up through out the years.
Another minute went by, as they continued to just stare at each other. Neither spoke, because they both didn't know what to say. But Mikoto knew that Mebuki would tell her when she was ready, and there was no need to pressure her. There was just silence and an eerie feeling in the room. Finally Mikoto decided to speak up, because she had a feeling if she didn't, they would be there all day. Mikoto took a small breath and spoke, even though she was slightly scared and worried to find out what the news was, that Mebuki was struggling to tell her.
"Mebuki, really what's going on. What happened?" Mikoto whispered softly.
And just like that Mebuki looked away from Mikoto and began staring at anything but her, she decided to stare up at the chandelier and she began to release everything.
"I haven't had my period in five weeks, and I usually always get it early." She took a big breath in, and waited a second and exhaled out and then she continued ignoring Mikoto's shocked expression, Mikoto and herself knew damn well that she was never late. It was nearly impossible, it had only happened a few times as a teenager and it would end up only being a few days late.. Never to this extreme. Which only meant one thing.
Mebuki started to feel a great relief being able to release everything that she had been keeping to herself for the last five weeks. Being too afraid of her husband's reaction to tell him. And then everything began flowing out in a rushed voice. As if she didn't say everything right now, she would end up exploding. She released it like a bomb. Not even giving Mikoto a second to respond.
"I tried to wait it out to confirm it, because I didn't know. Maybe it was just a mistake and I would end up getting it the next day, so every day I told myself it was going to come the next day. Oh no the next day. Oh no it'll come tomorrow. That's what I kept telling myself. But it never did. But I kept waiting, but I was so scared when a week went by, because you know my husband. But I was scared to take the test, I was scared of the results. Even though my husband is perfect in every other way, he doesn't want kids. And he told me just a week ago when I asked him if his thoughts on kids were the same, and he said he still doesn't want a kid, and never will." She took two deep breaths and then continues looking down at her tea, she was not able to look at her best friend. No she couldn't make eye contact, not even for a single split second. If she did she would freeze up.
"But I was getting anxious last night, so this morning, once I woke up I went to the market and bought the test. And when I got home, luckily he was already off at work probably with your husband, Fugaku. And the test confirmed it. I'm pregnant." Mebuki says as she stares down at her tea sadly, and then took a sip of it. She slowly looks up to Mikoto who was trying her best to stay still while she sat on her chair.
Mikoto was still speechless, her mouth was hanging open but was covered by both of her hands, and her eyes were opened as wide as they could shock written all over them.
Mebuki placed the tea back on the table and took her hand away from her tea and started digging through her purse and then took a pregnancy test out of her purse; that before was hanging behind her on the chair she was sitting in. She then handed it over to Mikoto which clearly showed that it was positive.
Mikoto released a gasp she had been holding in and urged Mebuki to continue after she hands the test back to her.
"I don't know what to do, all I know is that all I have ever wanted was to have my own little girl or boy, since I can remember. I wanted to dress them up, and hold them, and love them, and watch them grow, I wanted the bad and the good. I wanted the sleepless nights, and the joy of seeing their very first tiny smile. But I put all my dreams behind me to make him love me, I just wanted him to stay with me. But now that she is here" She says glancing at her still small stomach that now had a baby growing inside it, trying not to break down into tears in front of her best friend as she put a hand to her stomach securely.
"I want to keep him or her, even.. Even if Kizashi leaves me." Mebuki finished at the verge of tears, sucking in her breath.
At that Mikoto got up from her chair, nearly knocking it down and hugged her best friend as if her life depended on it. As if she didn't she would disappear into thin air if she wasn't doing so. One hand made her way to the small of Mebuki's back and slowly began rubbing it, knowing she was about to fall apart since her best friend was biting her lip and sucking in the air, and her other hand made her way into her hair.
At the very moment that Mebuki's best friend hugged her, she couldn't hold it in anymore and burst into tears.
"He won't leave you sweetie, and if he does he's not worth the tears. He would be a scumbag if he left you all by yourself. Espically since right now, you need him the most. This is scary sweetie but you have to tell him. And if he does leave you, you will always still have me. I'll never leave you sweetie. Never. I'll let you live in my guest room until you get back on your feet! I won't abandon you." Mikoto says as she hugged her and began feeling her shoulder get wet from her best friends tears. She bit her lip and prayed for the best.
"I-I just hope he doesn't leave me. I just really h-hope he understands.. He has to understand." Mebuki says in between tears.
"I know sweetie, I know. Just let it out." Mikoto cooed.
Mikoto comforted her best friend with soothing words as Mikoto rubbed her back in a slow and soft circular motion, trying to calm Mebuki down and only to stop to brush her tears away.
"I'm here.. You're okay." Mikoto whispers, as Mebuki continued to cry.
An hour later Mikoto and Mebuki were back to their normal cheerful selves joking around with each other. Even though Mebuki was still worried and beyond terrified, she decided to try to make the best of her situation, and she decided to think about the positive things about her being pregnant, instead of the negative things. Because she decided if she just sat here with Mikoto crying about how scared she was, she would never have the guts to tell her husband, that she was indeed pregnant, and she wasn't going to get rid of him or her.
"Gosh Itachi is going to be so excited to hear the wonderful news when I pick him up from his friend's house, later on tonight. Now he's not just going to have one sibling, but TWO siblings to play with and protect! He's going to be beyond excited! I can already imagine his little face brightening up, and he's going to jump around and beg me to call his father to tell him." Mikoto smiles softly to her best friend as she rubs her already large stomach, which kept growing bigger as the days went forward. She only had a few more weeks left, before her bundle of joy was born and she couldn't be anymore excited.
Mebuki shakes her head to Mikoto's comment, as she begins imagining a little Itachi jumping up and down, due from being overly excited when he hears the news, she then begins to laugh and a small smile forms on her face.
"I can already picture it too! Oh Itachi, he's growing to be such a cute young boy. He's so polite, and kind, but it's amazing how strong he is. I can't even imagine how protective he's going to be over the two of them. He's such a sweetheart. I never met such a loving young boy. I love when he sees me and screams Auntie!" Mebuki said imitating Itachi's cute little voice as she moves her hands up to her face and shakes them around, the exact same way Itachi does before he runs over to hug her.
Mikoto laughed and smiled softly her eyes sparkling. If anyone tried to say that Mikoto didn't love her little Itachi, that would be the lie of the century. Nothing could explain how she felt when he was near. He brightened up every single cloudy and dark day, with his bright personality.
Mebuki and Mikoto knew damn well that Itachi wouldn't allow anyone to lay one finger on his new brother or sister. Mikoto and Fugaku wanted the gender of the baby to be a surprise. Well at least Mikoto did, and Fugaku agreed to make her happy.
"He's going to be such a good big brother, you must be so proud of him. You've raised such a good kid." Mebuki praised Mikoto.
Mikoto let out a laugh as her head fell back into the chair, blushing slightly to the compliment.
"We can only hope no one tries to mess with our little ones, or Itachi will get them. They won't even have time to blink before he pounces on them." Mikoto continues on giggling as Mebuki joined in with her.
Mikoto stares down at her stomach, and puts her hand on it feeling a soft kick.
"I'm almost one hundred percent sure that it is another boy" Mikoto says to mostly herself with a soft smile. She didn't want to know the gender until he or she was born. She loved surprises.
"In a few weeks we will know for sure!" Mebuki says as she gives little smirk to her best friend. "You never know, maybe I'll have a girl and you'll be right, and you'll have a boy, and our children will get married one day!" Mebuki said in a hopeful voice. Already imagining the wedding, and then a huge grin formed on both of their faces.
"You never know what the future could hold. But they will most definitely be best friends like us!" Mikoto smirked now having the same hope as Mebuki.
The two girls laughed kept chatting for a few hours, as they began talking about there kids future wedding. When it was around noon, they began cleaning up their mess. Once they were done cleaning up, they decided to watch the news for a little bit. When they saw the Hokage on the news a new plan came into action.
"We should go on over to Kushina and tell her your lovely news! Maybe all three of our children will be best friends!" Mikoto says happily when she thought of the new idea.
Kushina Uzamaki who is married to Minato Namikaze who is the Fourth Hokage was 6 months pregnant with a baby boy.
"That's a great idea, and I haven't seen Kushina is a few days! We should give her a call and let her know we are on our way!" Mebuki said excitedly. Then Mikoto and Mebuki sat up from the couch and rushed into Mikoto's kitchen, Mikoto beat Mebuki to the phone by only a few seconds and stuck her tongue out and grabbed the phone and dialed Kushina's number.
After the second ring a cheerful and loud voice answer the phone.
"Helloo?" Kushina answered the phone in her normal cheerful voice.
"Hi Kushina, it is Mikoto! Mebuki and I were wondering if we could drop by and say hello, are you busy right now?" Mikoto asked as she twirled the cord of the telephone around her finger.
"Oh Hi Mikoto! I would love that, hurry on over! I'll make some ramen for you two! Get over as soon as possible, or the ramen will be soggy!" Kushina says excitedly.
With that the phone call ended and Mikoto and Mebuki headed on over to Kushina's house.
When they arrived to Kushina's house that was absolutely beautiful, and had a country vibe since it was made out of logs, it was a little small but homey, and had a nice backyard; where she would be seen gardening in an oversized hat. They don't even need to knock on the door because as they reached the door, the door swings open revealing Kushina and her big belly that was covered by a beautiful folly colored maternity dress, she was breathing heavy due to running to the door as fast as her legs would carry her, but she had her normal huge grin on her face, that was slightly red.
"Hello, come in, come in! The ramen is on the table waiting for you guys!" Before they could even say anything back to her, Kushina pulls them inside and shuts the door behind them.
As she leads them down the hall to the dining room Kushina is smiling brightly and talking about how she already had a bowl of ramen since she got hungry while she was waiting for them to show up, because they took to long to get there.
"But seriously you guys took forever to get here, I mean I was waiting for a good ten minutes!" Kushina cried out as she stops walking to turn around to glare and pout at her guests. They just laughed and apologized.
But before they make it into the dinning room they and come face to face with Minato who was leaving his office. He already had his jonin vest and his Hokage coat on. He looked like he was rushing to get somewhere. They say their hellos but he told them he was rather busy and he was going to be late to a meeting, and then he apologized that he couldn't be a good host and stay a while and talk.
"We'll have to catch up another day you two! I hope you have a good time with my wife here, I know she's excited to have some company! But I have to go now! I wish I could stay and chat, but duty calls!" He says and waves a quick good bye after kissing his wife on the cheek for a mere second, and then begins walking to the main entrance of the house, to go to his meeting that he was already late to.
All three of them say goodbye as he begins to walk away and exchange looks, and shake there heads. A few seconds after they hear the door swing open and then a soft click which they knew meant he had closed the door and had left.
"He's always working now a days, I'm lucky if I even get a kiss on the lips that lasts longer than five seconds!" Kushina says while she frowns. She understood that he had an important job, but some days she missed the individual attention she used to get showered with.
Mikoto and Mebuki nod there head in agreement, they also understood the bad side of having a really busy husband as well, since their husbands worked at the Konoha Military Police Force. And when they weren't working their they had missions to go to.
Shortly after Kushina continues to lead them through the dining room to enter the kitchen. When they enter the kitchen they can already see their bowls on the kitchen table.
"Thank you Kushina!" Mikoto and Mebuki thanked as they took their seats at the kitchen table.
Kushina is already loudly slurping down her ramen with no shame as she nods her head and then begins to speak with her mouth filled.
"So how have you two been, we haven't all hung out like this in months! I was actually thinking about you two last night!" Kushina says cheerful as she filled her mouth with another serving of ramen, as she used her chopsticks that remained in her hands the entire time.
'Kushina will never change; she'll always be a child at heart. She is always so energetic; I swear that ramen must have more caffeine than coffee, since when she has it she gets so hyped up. It is practically all Kushina will ever eat.' Mikoto and Mebuki thought to themselves before answering with an amused smile on their face as they watched Kushina continue to take bite after bite, when they haven't even grabbed the chopsticks off the kitchen table yet.
"We've been good, and I know! It seems like we've been mostly locked up in our houses due to our little one inside of us, I don't know what Mebuki's excuse is though!" Mikoto joked and laughed with her friends.
"I've actually been really busy at the hospital, things have been quite hectic around here. I've been needing to use up almost all my chakra most days, because their has been so many people who need surgeries. I hope all these injuries settle down. But yesterday I had to heal this adorable little boy named Yuuki. He tripped and sprained his ankle. He was first so scared, but once I started healing him he started laughing, I never seen anything like it!" Mebuki said as she began to think of the litte boy who had light brown hair and hazel eyes.
They continued to talk about random things until Mikoto cleared her throat and began to speak.
"We have got some important news to share with you Kushina, now don't we Mebuki!" Mikoto was smiling softly and winked at both of them as she adjusted her top; by pulling it down, and then she puts both of her elbows on to the table, and puts her hands together interlocking them, and then she slowly rests her chin on top of her hands, and slowly a smirk appeared on her beautiful face replacing her smile that was on her face moments before.
"Oh really? Do tell!" Kushina says as she looked up from her ramen to look at the two girls sitting in front of her, and then she finally stopped eating her ramen and puts her chopsticks on the table, because at this very moment she was more interested at what they were about to tell her, even more than her beloved ramen.
"Well, you see. You and Mikoto aren't the only two to be pregnant." She grinned widely as she points to her still small stomach.
"Wait, wait, wait! WHAT?" Kushina jumped from her chair a little too excited.
"Dattebane! Oh my gosh! This changes everything! What if all of our children become best friends! And this is just the best news I have heard in months! I think I'm going to cry from happiness!" Kushina rushes over to Mebuki and hugs her.
Mebuki and Mikoto laughed at Kushina's childish actions. They were pretty much like the The Three Musketeers. Although Mebuki and Mikoto were closer with each other, they have been friends with Kushina for as long as they can remember.
"Only thing is it wasn't actually planned, and ummm.. Well I haven't actually gotten the chance to tell Kizashi the big news yet. I'm afraid of what he'll say.." Mebuki admitted to Kushina ruining her vibe of total happiness, because Kushina finally remembered why they haven't had tried to have a baby until now.
"Oh.. Well I'm sure he'll be happy about it Mebuki. He loves you, maybe this was all meant to be. I believe in faith and miracles. And this all had to happen for a reason." Kushina became serious surprising almost everyone, she then stops hugging Mebuki and stands up straight and then begins to speak again.
"Don't give up until the very end Mebuki, I would tell him real soon though. The sooner the better, because I know the longer you wait, you're putting more stress on yourself. If things don't work out, it's his lost!" She says carefully picking her words.
The words that Kushina spoke helped Mebuki, and she decided that tonight she would confront him about what was going on. This wasn't going to be a waiting game any longer. He needed to know.
"That's right, and you'll always have us." Mikoto agreed and smiled sweetly, and she places a hand on Mebuki's shoulder.
"You're both right, I will have to talk to him tonight when I get home, I don't want to worry myself any longer. If he stays that lovely, if he doesn't then I guess he's not the man I fell in love with, that told me he would never leave me." Mebuki decided with confidence and smiled at her two precious friends. She didn't know what she would do without them.
"Thank you guys for helping me through this, I knew I could rely on you two!" Mebuki hugged the two very pregnant women.
Wow, I'm like really proud of this story so far! Help me decide if Kizashi stays with her or not.
