Earl Gray Tea

Chapter One: Mute

Miyuri sipped her tea silently, listening to the patter of rain outside the window. She was supposed to go to school in one hour-something she did not look forward to. She already had done her usual morning activities, feeding the cat, eating, changing into her brand new high school uniform. It was her first year, and her new class was 1-B. Her mother wasn't in the house. She was rarely there, anyways. Miyuri didn't care. Not anymore.

She finished her tea, taking the bag out of the teacup and tossing it in the trash. The cup was set in the sink and an umbrella and school bag was picked up. Miyuri locked the door, opening her black umbrella.

The rain fell onto the fabric, making popping noises as the raindrops bounced here and there. A yelling voice came to her attention, making her turn her head.

A pink haired girl was standing with a bright blue umbrella, her arms crossed in front of a house. She was wearing Miyuri's uniform.

"Aomine-Kuuuuuuunnnnnn~" She yelled up to a window. "It's time to go to school!"

Miyuri tilted her head.

'Someone's still sleeping? School starts in 30 minutes, too...'

She averted her attention to the sound of raindrops on the ground.

"...Go away." A gruff voice said sleepily.

"But Aomine-Kun! What about the basketball..."

Miyuri tuned the conversation out, and kept walking, joining the slow stream of other students. She made her way to the train station, buying a hot tea from one of the vending stations at the platform. She finished calmly, but was pitched forward by a push from the back, her umbrella and empty can falling from her hands. She stumbled forward, her eyes blank and filled with fear.

Miyuri squeezed her eyes shut, ready to be pummeled into the train. She felt a whoosh of air, heard screams, and was yanked backwards back onto the platform by a band of muscle around her waist.

"Oh my gosh! Are you okay?"A familiar voice questioned in a panicked manner. "Nice save, Aomine-Kun!"

Miyuri opened her eyes, looking to the one who spoke. It was the same pink-haired girl from earlier. Her eyes held relief. She turned around to see her savior-a tanned, blue haired, tall young man. Miyuri stood up hurriedly and bowed to the both of them shakily. All three of them then boarded the train that nearly killed her, whispers all around them.

"That was scary, wasn't it? I can't imagine actually getting hit. Do you know who pushed you?"

Miyuri shook her head, flustered from the attention and the rush.

"Oh, but it was good that Aomine-Kun was there! He just grabbed you and pulled you away!"

Miyuri looked up at the boy who was currently looking out the train window. His eyes were blank, seemingly bored. The scenery swam through his blue eyes, and he looked completely unfazed. He seemed to realize that Miyuri was observing him and turned to her.

"You owe me for that. Big time. You go to our school so you'll have plenty of time." He stated, his deep voice making Miyuri jump then nod. "And Momoi."

"Hmm?"

"She almost died. Give her some space, won't you?"

It was Aomine's turn to observe Miyuri now. His gaze drifted down to her breasts, frowning at the small size.

"Tch. Only a B-Cup."

Miyuri looked mortified, blushing a deep red.

"But your face is pretty enough. Not as pretty as some other girls, though. And your legs are nice." He evaluated, nodding his head critically.

Miyuri realized that he was verbally describing her 'desirable' features. She wanted to slap him, but she didn't seeing as less than ten minutes ago, he had saved her from dying. She caught a sympathetic look from Satsuki. She took a deep breath and let it out.

"My name is Momoi Satsuki. This big idiot is Aomine Daiki. We are going to both be in class 1-B in Touo. Which class will you be in?"

Miyuri was surprised. She knew that there was no such thing a coincidences, but she had already encountered these people twice today, and one of them had just saved her life. And now they had the same class as her. But because Satsuki had asked her a question like that, Miyuri was at a dilemna. And then an idea came to mind. She pulled out her schedule and showed it to the perky pink-haired girl, pointing at the class.

"Yes! One of our friends is in our class!" She cheered childishly.

Miyuri blinked. Apparently, she was now friends with Satsuki and Aomine-Kun. She nodded unsurely, slipping out the door of the school stop. Aomine-Kun and Satsuki followed. The unusual trio walked down a hill to Touo, Miyuri sharing the umbrella with Satsuki. At the same time, Satsuki was jabbering away with the tall blunette besides her. Well, it was actually more of Satsuki who was talking, and Aomine-Kun who was just giving short, half-hearted answers. Miyuri smiled softly. Even though it was raining, the cherry blossoms still bloomed, the petals still flew through the raindrops.

"What's with the stupid smile?" Aomine-Kun inquired, looking down at Miyuri.

She looked to the trees simply, pointing.

"But it's raining. How do you think it's pretty if it's raining?"

Miyuri was shocked. He actually understood what she was trying to say! Only her mother could do that-and she couldn't even do it properly. Miyuri made her arms shrug simply, still shell-shocked.

"Hurry up, idiot." Aomine-Kun called. He and Satsuki were already at the school entrance.

Miyuri made her lead feet move, jogging to stand under the school roof.

"So, Miyuri-Chan, can you talk?" Satsuki asked, closing her umbrella.

"How do you know her name, Momoi? She never told us." Aomine-Kun pointed out.

"It was written on her schedule."

First person POV

I shrugged, trying to avoid the question. I tried to skirt around the questions like that-they made me uncomfortable.

"So you can't talk?" Aomine-Kun concluded.

"She can too talk. Otherwise she wouldn't be going to school!"

They argued for a bit, and I walked ahead to the teacher's lounge. All of the teachers looked at me weirdly, which yes, I was very used to. I grabbed my phone and punched in: 'My name is Nanase Miyuri. I'm a mute. I need to find the teacher of class 1-B and tell him this.'

I showed it to the nearest teacher, a woman. She stood up and walked around the tables, tapping a man's shoulder. He was middle-aged with glasses.

"Nanase-San wants you. She is in your new class."

As he came to see me, I bowed my head respectfully. He bowed back.

"Nice to meet you, Nanase-San. I am your teacher, Nakamura Iwa. What is it you would like to tell me?" He asked.

I showed him my phone, having deleted the last sentences asking for him. He nodded, understanding.

"I will inform the class and the other teachers." He said with a smile.

I took a deep breath and bowed once more at a 90 degree angle, my hair falling around my shoulders. He patted my shoulder.

"Thank you for coming and telling me, Nanase-San." Nakamura-Sensei said.

I nodded and turned around, my eyes being greeted by the blue-eyed teen that I now owed my life to, as well as his pink-haired friend.

"Ah! Miyuri-Chan! We finally found you!" Satsuki exclaimed, grabbing my hand and dragging me away. "You'll never guess what happened! When we were looking for you, three girls started flirting with Aomine-Kun and he just looked really uncomfortable! It was the funniest thing ever."

Aomine-Kun growled at Satsuki. "You didn't need to tell her that, Momoi..."

"What's wrong with me telling her?"

"It's awkward."

As we entered the class, I could feel all of the males turn to Satsuki, and all of the females turn to Aomine-Kun. Most of them didn't look at me, thankfully. Except for a few. One of them stared at me with pervy eyes. He was in the back, chattering to himself about cute little breasts. I was not sitting anywhere near him, to put it bluntly. Another one just looked at me with a smirk on his face. I wouldn't deny that he was good looking, with windswept hair with highlights. His features weren't Japanese, they looked foreign. He had slight freckles underneath his cheeks. As he saw me staring, he winked. I blinked at him, hiding my blush, and moved on. The last one who was looking at me was a smallish boy, taller than me(I was kinda/really small. 5'4...), of course. Everyone was taller than boy had light brown hair and amber eyes, turning away from me when he caught me looking back.

Going back to the subject of being short, I had always been vertically and socially challenged. Socially, because I was mute and couldn't communicate. I never bothered to use sign language. I did learn it in first grade but no one knew how to use sign language so I gave up. When I realized that Aomie-Kun inadvertently knew how to speak to me, I was overjoyed. But he was like a skyscraper! Or a sex god! Easily six foot. Which was... at least eight inches taller than me. I picked a seat next to the window. I wanted to open the window, but I knew I would be reprimanded. So instead of opening it, I simply put a single hand on the glass, looking through my reflection and out into the dark rain. I closed my eyes, pressing a forehead against the glass and listened to the rain falling on the windowsill.

"Oi. How long are you going to stay there like that, clumsy?" My new slave driver asked.

I ignored him and the nickname, shifting my weight from foot to foot.

"As long as you want, huh?" He guessed correctly.

I heard him walk over to me.

"You can't just ignore me. I know you know I'm here." Aomine-Kun pointed out.

I sniffed once and shrugged my shoulders, letting him read my movements.

"Why a mute girl like you, huh? Well, maybe 'cuz you're not eye raping me whenever you see me and you're not talking my ear off."

'Eye raping?' My shoulders bounced a few times from my laughs.

"Is something funny?" His deep voice boomed in my ear, suddenly significantly closer than before.

I turned around, my eyes wide. Aomine-Kun was practically on my shoulder, his arms wrapping around my waist.

"I know you'll cave... Miyuri." I shivered, his body and voice drowning me. "You owe me all that you are, all that you were, and all that you will be. You can't win against me. So just be my little slave, will you?"

I wanted to say something-anything-but we both knew that I could not.

(A/N- Wooh. I just turned myself on there... And it's only the first chapter!)

His arms tightened, not so I couldn't breathe, but so I was lifted off the floor. To anyone else, it would seem like a tender lover's embrace. But we knew better.

This was a battle of submission between a Alpha and his Beta. And I had lost the battle.

He set me down roughly on the top of my desk, kissing my forehead.

"It seems you know who your superior is. That's good." He whispered into my ear. "You're mine now. And I will break you."

I looked at him, not understanding. He simply smirked at me and walked back to his desk, girls swarming around him. My arms flew around my shoulders, my body shaking. What was that?!

"Miyuri-Chan! Are you okay?" Satsuki asked.

I turned to her shakily, my gaze unsteady. My vision blurred for a second, but it cleared when the teacher walked in the room.

"Ok, everyone! Return to your seats! Save the socializing for lunch break! My name is Nakamura Iwa, but you all will address me as Nakamura-Sensei. Before we begin class, I would like to inform you of a very special person in this classroom." Nakamura-Sensei declared.

The room buzzed, wondering who this person was.

"Nanase Miyuri-San, please come up."

I stood and walked to the teacher, bowing once again.

"Nanase-San is mute. She cannot speak and I would like you all to treat her like a normal person and do your best to communicate and get along with her."

I bowed to the class, my eyes flashing nervously. Aomine-Kun just smirked at me and I knew that from then on, my life would be hell.
