My cheek hurt like heck. I was really tired. I couldn't tell if Kat was awake or not.
A whitecoat stepped in with a needle. My cage jerked hard and bumped my sore arm against the side. Yes, I said cage, a dog cage. My name is Lane, I'm not an animal, well not really. I am a avian-hybrid, 98 Human, 2 Bird. Kat is my friend. The only friend I have. Ouch, my sore arm was pricked by a needle. I didn't notice the whitecoat come up to my cage.
The whitecoat's are evil people, who find it fun to hurt children. Well 14 year olds.
I have wings. Rarely ever get to use them, but I still have them. Kat has wings, too.
We have powers unlike any other. We control bones and blood. I hate my job. I have gotten beaten up by erasers because I refused to show some people in the past, I don't do much though. Kat and I hide in shadows easily. We almost look like twins. Black hair, dark brown eyes, black wings. The white coat left the room, turning of the lights as he went out. I can see really well in the dark, for I have raptor vision. There is a big plastic wall between the cage room and the computer room. I also have better hearing then Kat and humans. I heard fast footsteps down the sewer hall. Yes, I said sewer. The door crashed open and six kids came in "who are they?" Kat whispered, "I don't know." I replied so low I barely even heard myself. There were three girls, and three boys. Looked normal, acted normal. What looked like the oldest girl, also looked sick. Why? "What's wrong?" one girl asked the oldest "antiseptic smell? I know its bothering me, too. But I just think about flowers and sometimes the sme…"
"Shut up, Nudge!" a young boy said. Why did the antiseptic smell bother them so much? It bothered me. But why them? The girl that's name is apparently Nudge, jumped on a computer and started typing "Whoa! I can tell who every one was that was on here! A red haired man!" a look of awe came upon all of there faces. The rest I couldn't hear.
The youngest girl came over and looked at the little black dog sitting in the cage right next to me. I couldn't hear what she said but she pointed at the dog and then to Kat and I.
The next moment they started breaking us out of our cages. Kat seemed to trust them but I wasn't very sure, so I stayed in my cage. A tall blondish guy came over and tried to get me out, but I stayed put. "Max! She won't come out!" the oldest girl came over, she put her hand in my cage to help me out "come on…. We won't hurt you. We are just like you." She unfurled her wings, my mouth dropped open. She had wings, too? They lead us all out the door, telling us to run. More footsteps? Suddenly erasers started popping out from every nook and cranny "Run! Fang, lead them down the hall and out of here!" the tall dark guy nodded and started telling us to run more. We did as we were told. We got to the subway station and went up the stairs. I was still not very sure about them, so I chose not to stay. All the other experiments were not sure either, apparently. So they came with me. Kat came, too. We were all ready to leave "where are you going to go?" Fang said "I don't really know yet." I replied, his dark eyes showed no emotion at all, they were mysterious.
